Our Weekend by The Boys

Hey Pups!

I had an exciting weekend. I got to go on a car ride in the Sibe Vibe with mom, dad, and my little biped. You might not know this about me but I am not that keen on car rides. They kinda scare me. I guess I'm afraid my people might leave me somewhere with people I don't know. At one point during the care ride Dad had to pull me off of the little biped because I was so scared I was half sitting on her.

But, I guess it was worth it because I got to go to the pet store. My Canidae was on sale and mom and dad wanted to make sure they got some more for me before the sale ended. They also wanted to get a new food for Sky because of his itchy skin issues, but more on that later when he tells you about his weekend. Right now it's my turn. If you all remember I act like a scaredy cat when I meet new people, but mom was very impressed when I went up to a nice lady in the store...she even gave me some treats. Before we paid at the checkout my little biped picked out some nice gourmet treats for us. She gave them to us this afternoon. They were really yummy!

Ok, move over Canyon, my turn!

Sky here, I wish I would have had as fun a weekend as Canyon. I guess I should have figured out something was not normal when I had a different food in my bowl. I've been having itchy skin issues that don't seem to be getting better. Mom and Dad have tried just about everything to help me feel better, but I'm still itchy and scaly, but only on my face and my front elbows. Mom had researched my issue before and asked the V-E-T about zinc responsive dermatitis and he said it could be entirely possible that I have it. Apparently this can be fairly common in Northern Breed Dogs. The V-E-T had told mom and dad before they could try a zinc supplement but then after the V-E-T visit my itchies seemed to heal up some. Well, they now really think it's that zinc thingy and ordered my some supplement to help me get better. But look what they did to me in the mean time to help my skin heal

After they shaved my face and elbows, they got the new shampoo they purchased during the pet store visit and gave me a "sponge" bath with it. I guess I should be thankful they didn't give me a full-fledged bath in the horrid bathtub. Although, it is fun to body slam Dad against the wall trying to get out of the bathtub....ha roo roo!!! Mom and Dad think this might be the cause of my metal licking behavior.....we will see.

So, hopefully my torture is over and the supplements will help me to feel better!

Oh woo, Sky, that looks like it's no fun at all.
Our mommy just read something online today about the benefits of getting apple cider vinegar in our diets. She's been adding it to our breakfast glop since she started us on the raw food diet a couple of months ago, it was part of a recipe she found, but she got curious, "why vinegar?", so she looked it up. It apparently has some pretty amazing qualities, helping to fight off infections and allergies, some indication that it helps arthritis, many benefits for digestion & urinary tracts. It also mentioned helping with skin & coat issues, and repelling fleas, ticks & mosquitos! Truly a magic elexir. You might have your mommy do some research and consider giving you a bit with your food or water. We have seen an AMAZING improvement in our tummy issues since the new diet, and with the vitamins & minerals we're getting from the vinegar, eggshells, fish oil, & vitamins e & c, our coats have never looked or felt better. Just make sure it's pure apple cider vinegar, you don't get the same benefits from the other kind.
Hope you feel better soon.
Please tell Miss Kelsey Ann we love her decorating touch on the tree!
Manykisses,
Bama & the RHP

Canyon: That sounds fun! You were really brave! Amber doesn't like the car, either. We don't know why.

Sky: Sorry about your itchy skin! I hope the supplements and all will help you feel better. Hey ... the area on your face and elbows matches my tummytum! Ha roo! Like everypup told me - the hair will grow back before we know it!

Play bows,
Zim

Oh Sky we are so sorry to hear about your skin allergies. I hope this gets better. Your fluff will grow back ever better.

And Canyon, I am proud you went for a ride without incident. That's good. Car rides can be fun.

Woo - Canyon, Shyla doesn't like car rides too much either. They only meant bad, scary things to her in her pre-Echo Pack era. Mom and Dad worked hard on that and took her for lots of short rides so she could see she always comes back here and not to some other scary place. Good luck with your itchies Sky!

You guys are sure having adventures! Which aren't always fun, huh?

Sky, do you eat fish? If they aren't giving you enough seal and whale meat, be sure to ask for salmon!

Might as well play the "Northern Breed" card when you've got it! ::big Husky grin::

Canyon: good for you that you tolerated the car ride and got some treats. Treats are always good.

Sky: I think you still look handsome even though you're missing some fur.

I love cars. It is really good to go driving in my Landy. When I first started, master and mistress always made sure we did lots of nice things, with walks and treats and stuffs. And when we went to the V-e-t - we walked so I didn't associate it with my Landy. (I guess that's a bit difficult in America). You are a tough dog Canyon.

And you are very brave too Sky. I hope you don't have any more nasty baths though of any type.
