Ok, here it is...drumroll....the moment you have been waiting for...the big unveiling of the quilt mom is donating to be won by raffle or silent auction at the Hike N' Howl this coming Saturday. I am so excited to see all my doggy friends I can hardly contain myself. Mom is not quite finished with the quilt (the edges are not done yet) but she allowed me to take a picture to share with everydoggy. I think the puppies on the quilt are very cute and it is even doggy-sized.
These are the close-ups of the quilt!
I apologize right now to everydoggy who's blog I haven't visited this week. I promise with my paw to my heart I haven't forgotten you, the Kapp Pack is just very busy getting ready to help out with the event on Saturday. Oh, and by the way, it's not too late to sponsor MEEEEE! Just click on the link on my sidebar that says sponsor me!

So, Mom and Dad left us home alone again!!! I don't get why they keep leaving us...but I guess I shouldn't complain too much since they always come back. Mom and Dad are big Steelers fans and drove all the way across the state to go to the Steelers vs. Eagles game on Sunday night. They told me there was no way they were going to wear Steelers jerseys to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia so they went to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
I hope some of you are Steelers fans and can enjoy the pictures!
The view as you walk in the stadium......very cool!
The view from the cheap seats...mom and dad were all the way at the top row of the stadium
The scoreboard was really different with the big bottles of Heinz ketchup.
I was very upset when Mom told me I wasn't allowed to have another pawty because I was still recovering. A girl's gotta have a little fun sometime.

BTW, Don't tell mom I told you but I am unveiling the quilt she is donating to the Hike N' Howl tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Dad suggested a few nights ago, that I should add a link on the blog to a breast cancer awareness site since I recently had to have a partial mastectomy to remove the cancer (we're so glad that it didn't turn out to be the bad kind). We added the link to the sidebar on Friday night, but I haven't had a chance to mention it until now. This is what the link looks like.

I'm starting to feel better since my surgery this week. I haven't posted a lot this week, so I wanted to tell you how I've been spending the last several days. Of course, I've been resting a lot on my throne in the bedroom. They've even shut the door to keep the annoying one away from me. I've also been milking this thing for all it's worth. Take today at lunch for instance:
Mom, the little biped, and "Dama" (that's the little biped's word for Grandma) went out shopping for clothing. Dad and "Paw-paw" (Dama's other half), were out in the shed building bigger and better shelves. Paw-paw went to a nearby fast food restaurant and bought hamburgers and french fries for lunch. They brought them inside to eat since the air conditioning was on and it was so hot outside. I, of course, had to get off my throne to go and get french fries. Normally, begging wouldn't get me anywhere, but both Dad and Paw-paw shared with me. I got six whole french fries. It reminds me of my younger days when I was an only dog, and would go places with Mom and Dad. I'd get my own box of fries when they stopped at the fast food places.
The little biped is very worried about "Ke'y booboo," so she's been bringing me treats whenever Mom and Dad will let her. I've had to take several medications this week on top of the ones I already take. Normally, I get three pills a day. I take one pill, twice a day, for my spay incontinence (to prevent leaking); and another, once a day, for discomfort from arthritis and old age. Well, now I'm taking another pain pill once a day and an antibiotic twice a day. More pills means more peanut butter!!! Woooooooo!!!! I suppose you could say that I've been enjoying myself as much as possible this week except for the discomfort and the stupid lampshade.
Some humans call this an Elizabethan Collar or E-collar. It was named this after the ruffles on the dresses that Queen Elizabeth I wore.
She used to be the Queen of England, a long time ago. England is a country that is far away across "The Pond" (that's what the English call the Atlantic Ocean). Anyhusky up for a swim? I suppose that I'm getting to wear this thing since I'm a queen too so I shouldn't complain too much, but I wouldn't be Queen Kelsey if I didn't complain some - so here it is.
I tried to eat with it on when I had surgery a year or so ago, but it got in the way. I can't go up stairs with it on because the bottom of it gets caught on the stairs. So because of this, I get to take it off when I eat and when I go out. Twice this week, I got stuck in the room with the big, white, porcelain water bowl. In the middle of the night, I got thirsty, so I went there to get a drink. I must have been a little confused in the dark on Tuesday night and I wondered into the closet and couldn't get out. Dad came in when he got up in the morning for his shower and rescued me. The next night, I went in again and when I tried to leave, it got caught on the door and pushed the door shut. So, there I was stuck in that room until Mom got up in the morning and let me out. I had to wait especially late on Thursday morning because both Mom and Dad had the day off. Both mornings I was as mad as a hornet.
Well, enough complaining for now. More later - it's what I do best!

Rex has returned home. We would like to thank everyone for all of their help and support. I hope everyone can climb back into bed to capture a few extra zzzz,s I am very sorry for the inconvenience that this has put on all of you. After setting up camp in the back of the car Rex returned to the place he had escaped from. He leaped at the car. and made his circle looking for an entrance. He was so excited to see me that I barely got the door open before my face was soaked by his kisses. Unbelievable but true, he was only damp from the condensation and a hint of mud from the terrain had splashed on him. I really expected a drenched, filthy dog with the possibility of a touch of skunk perfume to top off the overwhelming day. On that note I am heading off to bed. The Rose Pack is sincerely grateful to all. We are looking forward to a little rest.

I wanted to pass along great, awesome, best we could have hoped for, news. Dr. Horst called and left a message for my mom and dad (I don't know why he didn't just ask for me since I was home) but anywoo, he said my tumor was benign.....that's the kind of cancer that we wanted the tumor to be. The pathologist also said there were clean margins around the pesky tumor.
Thanks everypup (and human) for your vibes and prayers!!!! They really helped me and keep think good vibes for a speedy recovery!
(still resting and recouperating)
In anticipation of the season change (it has felt like fall here this week) I am posting a poll about what your favorite season is. I'm placing my vote now and believe me it's not going to be summer!

Mom just had to try this quiz she saw on Quincy and Tristin's blog. I guess our mom is not a husky after all!
|You Are a German Shepherd Puppy|
Intelligent, quick witted, and a bit aggressive.
You've got the jaw power to take a bite out of anyone you choose.

Hi All, I am back to taking the computer over again. I have lots of time to dictate since I am resting up and recouperating from my mastectomy surgery. Thank you for all the well wishes. Dr. Horst and his staff were very nice to me today. They told me in private that I should take advantage of the sympathy for as long as possible. Dr. Horst said my bump was definetely a tumor but we need to wait a week or two for the biopsy results. I will let everypup know when we get those.
Mom and little biped went to the beach to walk around.
I couldn't resist including this very silly picture of my dad!
(I'm feeling very loopy tonight)

We've been tagged by Shiloh and Guiness to share our middle names and what the letters of them would mean. So I'll go first...
N-nosing through the garbage for used tissues
Sky's next, Dad said he doesn't have a middle name because it would mess with the whole Sky-Kapp thing....get it....Skycap? I think Dad travels too much on business. Dad did suggest his nickname could be flyboy.
Y-yammering like a chainsaw
O-obedient (as long as I'm inside the house)
Y-yell at mom and dad if I want something
Canyon doesn't have a middle name that mom and dad use on a regular basis. I suggest his nickname should be annoying.
N-nasty bug eater
O-obnoxious (according to me)
Y-yellow (as in cowardly)
I-in your face all the time
N-needs to learn some doggy manners
G-glued to your side (darn, that lab)
We would like to tag Steve and Kat, Holly, and Ferndoggle.

Thank you to all you doggies who voted for your favorite visitor. I am pleased to announce that the favorite doggy visitor is ANYBODY. I think us doggies need to work a little harder at playing "hard to get". We need to make sure the humans have to work for our attention.
If you haven't voted yet, please vote on our new poll. I would like to lobby against whichever is the most despised grooming device. MayaMarie has offered to destroy our furminator in the pool cleaner. I might just have to take her up on that offer.
For the doggy who asked if the furminator hurts, no, it doesn't but it's annoying and humiliating. I feel naked when it's all over with!!!!
Tuesday, August 14, 2007
She's saying things to the little biped like "Wow, this is amazing" and "Look at all this fur"...I mean, HELLO, I'm a Siberian Husky if you haven't noticed. The only amusing part to the whole awful event was when mom walked back the hall to start the torture on the Queen. I stood and laughed and laughed.....and then she brought Canyon up from his crate and started on him....uh, oh....gotta hurry she's coming my way againnnnnnnnnn....
Whew.......I dodged her this time.....
Needless to say, I will have to keep a close eye on where mom is in proximity to the torture device. Maybe, I will have Canyon eat the torture device...he has nothing to lose....he goes to his crate all day anyway.
I hope mom loses the stupid thing.....this is NOT FUN!!!!
(giving mom the evil eye)
P.S.- I posted a new poll in honor of Torture Tuesday!!!!!

I was so excited to go for a long car ride yesterday. I had no idea where mom, dad, and the little biped were taking me. I was a bit unsure of what was going to happen for a little while because mom and dad were VERY frustrated about being lost. We eventually found our way there with my superior verizon navigator skills.
We had arrived at Norristown Farm Park- the site of the Hike N' Howl!!!! I was ecstatic to see a lot of my husky friends there. There were lots of blogging doggies too! Sasha, Shiloh, Misty II, Magnum, Blue, Dante, Isis, and Lexa were there. Remember you can still sponsor me for the hike by clicking on the button on my sidebar!
I was taking a break with dad before the practice session...and sneaking some doughnuts too!
This was my view on the trail.......not very exciting, huh?

I've gone fishing several times with Mom and Dad over the years. And Dad always seems to make the joke that you can "call" fish - just like a turkey hunter would "call" the turkey in by imitating a turkey sound. Dad's fish call goes "Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy." Sometimes, it works and sometimes it doesn't...
Well, the fish call must've worked for Mom this week. She works with disabled children and during the summer gets to do lots of fun things with them like going to the pool, the zoo, the golf course and fishing. This week, she went fishing with one of her clients. Mom caught a 20" rainbow trout that weighed 2 lbs!!!
Well tonight she cooked it and fed it to the family - us included!!!!
Here I am getting to eat my share. Of course I got mine first.
Here's Sky checking out his share and waiting like a perfect gentleman that he always is when he gets a treat.
Sky really enjoyed his share.
Canyon couldn't even wait for his to get in the bowl.

(I think that trout tastes a lot like salmon...)

Hi, It's me Canyon. Mom told me I could blog tonight since Kelsey is so worried about the storms with the small "s". Honestly, I don't understand what the big deal is about those. Anywoo, I felt like I was a puppy again today. Remember when you were little puppies and the humans made SUCH a BIG deal out of you "going" outside???? Well, tonight the little biped took herself to the room with the big, white, forbidden, water bowl. She's been peeing in it for about 2 months and tonight she pooed in the potty for the first time. I couldn't believe how excited mom got....little biped got special candy (I remember when I used to get special treats to go outside!) and her and mom had to call Doma and Paw-Paw and also Dad in "ippi" (that's little biped speak for Mississippi) and tell them all about this AMAZING feat.
Maybe I need to start going in the house so they get excited and give me "special" treat when I go outside...what do all you "puppies" think???

P.S- I posted a new poll tonight in honor of all our visitors

We had another visitor!!! This is the second one this week. Late last night, Dad took us out for our final run in the yard before bed. He let us out and turned his back to put on his sandals since he was planning to come out and enjoy the evening air with us too. When he started out behind us, he noticed that Sky was trotting around the yard and looking very proud. Dad later said that he was thinking: that's not like Sky. When Sky turned towards Dad, he realized that Sky had caught an opossum!!!
Dad got Sky to let go of it. Then Canyon grabbed hold of it and he started to trot around. Well, I had to get in on the fun too. So, when Dad got Canyon to drop it, I got my turn. We were having a grand old time, but Dad was pretty upset about the situation. Finally, Dad was able to get a hold of two sticks. One to keep us pushed away, and the other to pick up the opossum with and throw it over the fence. By the time this had happened, we had already been carrying it around enough in our mouths to have killed it. Dad had to go out with a plastic bag to put it in. Sky sure was mad at Dad. He spent the rest of the evening giving Dad the Evil Eye. What would you have done if someone grabbed food out of your mouth that you had just caught. before you even got a chance to play with it? Mom said it was a good thing we had been to the V-E-T earlier and gotten our rabies shots.

This evening, we were all out in our dog pen that dad built for us last year. It is a 18 ft x 24 ft fenced area. The fence is chainlink and 6 ft high. Inside the fence, we have a nice tree (it was pre-exisiting and the boys love it) as well as a few shrubs (also pre-exisiting). This year Dad covered up all the grass with mulch because it makes it easier for him to cleanup after us. Dad worked very hard on building it for us so that we could go out without leashes and be able to run around some. We were enjoying the evening breeze right around dusk and watching traffic go by on the two roads we can see from inside the fence. Dad was on the computer in the office which is where the door out to the yard is and my the little biped was in bed trying to go to sleep. Suddenly, Canyon started to bark. Now, he's just a little bit bigger than me and quite a bit smaller than Sky, but his bark is twice as loud as either one of ours. It must be that crazy lab in him. Sky and I turned around to see what he was barking at, and here comes a beagle tearing through the unfenced part of the yard chasing after rabbit. Dad was really concerned that this poor, little lost dog would get hit by a car (the two roads that I mentioned before are pretty busy). He grabbed a hot dog from the freezer and ran out to chase after this dog so he could try to save it from getting in trouble. He caught her in the neighbor's yard (two doors down from us). Turns out the little girl was pregnant too. And to top it all off, she had no tags or license.
He carried her home and got a leash. Dad couldn't go anywhere to look and see if he could find her owners, as the little biped was sleeping and Mom wasn't home. Just then, a neighbor was coming home, so Dad took her around front to see if the neighbors knew where she belonged. They didn't. Dad called another neighbor; this person thought she might know where this poor, little lost girl belonged. Dad got a phone number and made a call. He ended up having to leave a message. Dad was about to call the police to see if they had gotten a report of a missing dog, when the neighbor said that he found out where the dog belonged and that the owner was on his way to pick her up.
I'm just glad that this story had a happy ending and the poor, little lost girl found her home. But, this allows me to make a few much needed reminders.
1) Spay and neuter to avoid unwanted pets. There's already a pet overpopulation in this country. Go to a rescue instead.
2) Make sure that your pets are wearing leashes when they go out so that they don't run away. It may even be a law.
