Single Sunday - First Thunderstorm

As many of you know, I have a problem with thunderstorms (or at least I used to - they're not a big deal anymore since I can't hear very much). Mom and Dad knew when they got me that I was very submissive, but they had no idea that during a thunderstorm, I would hide wherever I could find.

Ma and Paw had worked very hard with me to get me used to people before I was available to be adopted. They had me in their care for many months, but had never realized that thunderstorms scared me. They're so loud, how can anydog not be scared. Well, Mom and Dad had me about 3 months before the first thunderstorm came around. It took them about half an hour to figure out why I was trying to hide behind the TV. Once they realized that I had a problem with thunderstorms, they started to put me in closets during the thunderstorms. The closet routine continued every summer on at least a weekly basis for five years. Last summer, I started not hearing as well and I no longer needed the closet.

Ohhh, that is sad. We're sorry to hear that thunderstorms aren't fun for you.

My human said that when she was little one of her dogs (Shepard mix) was scared of thunder and lightening. He was big but he'd hide under beds. She used to hide with him just to keep him company (when she was little).

It looks like you've stepped out of the closet and now can hide around smaller things. :) You look awfully cute. We hope the thunder stops soon so you can give us your husky smile. :)

Kelsey Ann,

Those thunder storms are horrific. I totally understand. Journey and Rosemary aren't bothered in the least, but I go for high ground, and pant up a storm. Y'all have those super bad thunderstorm cells like we do. Yucko.

Heidi doesn't like them either, but she doesn't hear them anymore either, so it's just me freaking out. I'm glad to know someone like me!

Sorry about the storm disruption. Hopefully the skies are clear for you now.

Cute pic, though!

So glad you finally came out of the closet ... ha ha ha ha ha ha!
I've never been scared of thunderstorms, but mom is trying to think of some other reason to get me to wrap myself around a speaker. She thinks that's just darn tootin' cutin'.

Penny tries to hide anywhere she can during a t-storm! She has tipped over a lot of furniture! Now, Mom goes and opens up the basement door and Penny runs down there. Penny's happy and the furniture doesn't get broken anymore. Too bad it took them about 8 years to figure it out!

Thunderstorms are stoopid. When Tubey becomes president we would like to submit a congressional request for him to ban them furever!

Oh that last picture is cute with you peeking out from behind the speaker. We don't like loud thunderstorms either.

We are so sorry that you are loosing your hearing. Tell your mom that she needs to start using signs for come, sit, down and stay.. There is a website out there http://deafdogs.org
They have lots of great information there..

We didn't have thunderstorms for months. Then we got one last week.

All of us were nervous! The Human Assistant says Gremlin used to be much more afraid. But she may not be hearing so good anymore either.

Hope you're feelin' okay!

I think you are going to need a bigger hiding place lol.

Thunderstorms don't bother me, or my Lab sisters, but this summer we'll find out how LeeLee deals with 'em! BTW, I tagged you guys; check out my blog for details!

I don't care for storms with a little "s" either. Tubey DID say he'll ban them when he's elected. Fireworks, too! I sure hope he wins.
