Single Sunday - Fishing with Pop!

Well, yesterday was the little biped's birthday. The weather was a little uncertain, so instead of a big picnic and spreading out in the backyard, everyone was packed into the living room and dining room. It worked out nicely. Canyon got to work on social interaction; Sky spent the afternoon outside looking at cars and horse-drawn buggies (and occasionally letting out a Siberian Death Wail because he wanted to come in and see everybody); and I lounged on my throne to oversee the Princess Party (althought I was sequestered in the bedroom). That was the only thing fit for a Queen to be doing. Now, you may be wondering why I'm talking about current events when it's Single Sunday and I should be reminiscing. One of the birthday presents that she got was a Princess Fishing Rod Pop bought her. That inspired me to tell you about when I used to go fishing with Mom, Dad, and Pop.

Usually, Grandma would go along too, but she doesn't fish much. She'd have a book or some quilting she would work on. The rest of the bipeds would spend hours drowning worms. Occassionally, one of them would catch a sunny, a crappy, or even a largemouth bass. Then, I'd get to lick the fish before they threw it back in or put it on the stringer to take home. You heard me right, I'd lick the fish!

Once, we even went fishing on Pop's rowboat on a large lake in Lycoming County, PA. Pop used to own a share of a cabin there (but stories about the cabin will be another post). That was before Pop had weight-loss surgery. At the time, he weighed over 350 lbs. The rowboat is rated for 3 people; but the manufacturer didn't figure on one of those people weighing as much as the other two. Mom and Dad were worried about the boat going down and what would happen to me. Did they forget, DOGS CAN SWIM!!! - DUH!!! (But that's for another post too!)

Well, in all of those fishing trips, they never got a picture of me with a caught fish. But, here's some pictures of me at the fish pond which Pop built on their patio.

Don't worry I didn't fall in!

Wowzers, Kelsey Ann! You look so bee-roo-tiful in those pix! I think I'd like to lick a fish. Did you ever try to eat a whole one? I might want to do that, too.

A crappy? Woo! Somebuddy needs to clean that river! Dad often mentions putting a little pond in our backyard. Mom always seems to find that very funny. I don't know why.

Did you ever fall in the pond? That last picture looks like you're close to it!

And did you catch any fish? Hope so!

Kelsey Ann,

What's more fitting than a pretty husky gal going fishing? You showed remarkable restraint in the boat and at the pond. We have a history of jumping in the water. Mom does not find it funny! Witty wants to join in on the licking fish. You can't trust him though.

Hope you got some extra special attention after the Biped event.

Thanks for the memories.

Great stories! If you're really nice, the little biped might share her fish with you. Or maybe at least a worm or two. I used to have a beagle that LIVED for baked worms on the asphalt. Yuck.
