New Smells!

Well, what happened yesterday wasn't what we had expected. Mom came home and let us all out and then Meadow and I had to go back into our crates (at least Mom let us room together for the evening). Out the door she went. What???? Where's the little biped??? Why are you leaving us again????

When it was almost dark Mom and the little biped came home and they both smelled really strange....I couldn't figure out what they smelled like.....was it animal, vegetable or mineral??? I decided I better look at the camera to see what the strange smells were and this is what I found...
Ducks going down a slide

A curious goat

My little biped petting a cow
Petting a goat
A 3-month old goat trying to eat my little biped
Now this was the coolest part.....my bipeds saw these awesome canine athletes. Mom told me all of them are rescued dogs just like us. They even got to meet some of the canine stars after the show and mom personally thanked the human in charge for having rescued dogs. He said he wouldn't have it any other way. I was so happy to hear that! If you look closely at the pictures you can see all kinds of awesome canine manuevers!

One happy world champion rescue dog!

They even saw the canine version of the Michael Jackson moonwalk!!!

I wish I would have been allowed to go to the fair with them. It looks like I would have had a pawsome time and maybe learned a few new tricks!

Note from Mom: Yesterday marked the 1 year anniversary of our dear, sweet, pretty girl Kelsey Ann. I'd like to share the memorial video again. Kelsey Ann's paws will furever be on our hearts.

A Field Trip

After lunch yesterday, the bipeds began getting ready to go out. I figured I would be heading to my crate in the garage right next to Brook's. Instead, I got hooked up to my leash and taken to the car. Where are we going I wondered.

The Little Biped was happy to go wherever it was we were going

Once we got out of the car, I led the way with my nose to the ground to sniff everything in our path

What's this? A brook - thought we left her at home... LOL.

Smells like fish!

Look at the pretty view. Not far from where we sat, the stream runs into a big lake.

There's the fish. See 'em, Dad. Catch some for me!

Is that the best you can do? Last week you brought home a bunch of these. Just one lousy 4 inch blue gill today. No wonder the Little Biped got bored so quickly this week and the fishing trip lasted less than 30 minutes.

Little Biped leading the way to the car. She wanted to get out of there and head home.

Maybe next time will go better.

Fun in the Sun

Hey Pups,
Thought I'd tell you about our July 4th weekend. Dad took the Little Biped fishing. They caught a bunch of fish. Crappies, sunnies, rock fish, blue gills and even one smallmouth bass. The bass was too small to keep. The largest fish caught, a sunny, was about 7 inches and the Little Biped set the hook and landed it by herself. I'm not sharing pictures of that because I didn't get to eat any, so you don't get to see the photos. They went to a couple of picnics without us - so again no pictures because we weren't invited. Yesterday, all of us got baths in the front yard after Dad washed the cars. Here we are in the yard doing our best to get dirty again.

Dad really needs to do something about the grass and weeds that have found their way up through the mulch.

Here Fishy Fishy

Do you think if I could hypnotize the fish to make them jump out of the tank and into my frying pan?  I bet they would be yummy with some lemon, butter, and garlic!  Yes, I know they're little, but it would make for a nice snack before dinner.

What's that, these are the Little Biped's fish?  She's named them?  You say they're names are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and the baby fish is Veronica?  You want me to not eat them?

Hmmph... well OK... I guess... Yes, I'll just look... Mom, can you go the store and buy some salmon?

We survived!

Well, we all survived the week with dad. I wasn't sure if Brook was going to survive though. I think she was trying to work on her HULA application. She could have been trying to plead with mom to come home early too. Early last week dad was in the room with the big water bowl and mom called dad on his cell phone. Brook decided she needed to try to answer the call and this was the result...

All in all it wasn't too bad with dad in charge. He didn't forget to feed us at all, but then again, Sky would never let him forget to feed us.

Here's a picture of the little biped when she cam home last week. This is the tube slide on her swingset. I'll share more pics of that later.
Here are Brook and I keeping watch over the neighborhood.
Do we look like a 2-headed dog????

I also have some bad news to share. My little sister hasn't been behaving very well, case in point, Dad's cell phone. Well, all of us sleep in mom and dad's room at night and somepuppy has been deciding it's a good idea to chew holes in mom's quilts. Brook is really working on her HULA membership. Well, mom and dad decided Brook can no longer sleep in the bedroom until she outgrows (hopefully) this puppy chewing habit. Brook has to spend her nights in her crate. I really miss her when she's there!

Pee ess: Please say some prayers for Mom's family. Her Uncle that I hiked for last fall passed away last Thursday. We're positive Kelsey Ann gave him a big lick when he got to Heaven!

Can Dogs Get the Flu?

Hey Pups,

Can dogs get the flu from their people?  I really hope not.  Mom and Dad said the Little Biped threw up at the grocery store last Saturday night.  She seemed to be OK after that; however, Monday night she woke up crying and said she was cold.  Turned out she was running a fever.  She went to Gama's Tuesday and threw up at Gama's house.  Tuesday night her fever was up to 103.4.  She went to Gama's again Wednesday.  That afternoon, Dad came home and said he didn't feel good. He got the thermometer and found out he had a fever too.  Thursday, Dad had to go to Maine for some meetings so despite not feeling well, he got out of bed at 3am and was on a plane before 6am.  He got home around 10:30pm.  Meanwhile, the Little Biped spent another day at Gama's.  Dad tried to get up for work this morning, but Mom insisted that he take a sick day.  So, the Little Biped and Dad stayed home.  The Little Biped hasn't thrown up since Tuesday, but now says she has an earache.  Tomorrow, she'll go to the doctor.  I am hoping that this can't be passed on because I really don't want to be stuck laying on the couch all day with pillows, blankets, and dirty tissues...  Wait a minute - that doesn't sound so bad!  Well, maybe we will get the flu from the people.
Brook did throw up tonight.

Oh, and Canyon just sneezed....it's going to be a long weekend...

Snow Day

Hey Pups,

Turns out everyone got a three-day weekend.  The snow had started falling around 4 am this morning.  We woke Dad up when it started so we could go out and check it out right away.  Dad wasn't too pleased with getting up at 4 am so we could play in the snow.

At 6, his alarm went off and he got out of bed to get ready for work.  Mom found out school was on a 2-hour delay so she went back to sleep and had Dad reset her alarm for 7:30.  Dad left for work a little earlier than usual.  After picking up some cardboard boxes from the neighbors yard that had blown around in the wind overnight and putting them back with our garbage, he got in the car.  Twenty minutes later, he was back.  Turns out, he had gone 2 miles towards his 27 mile trip to work.  It had taken him 10 minutes and he slid around a bit too much for his liking.  He got home, and sent his boss and HR department an email that he was using a sick day for the snow.  Shortly after, Mom got a call that school had changed from a 2-hour delay to closed.

Mom said she hoped the new Wii would show up sooner than later so that they could spend the day playing.  We were really excited because the last box that got delivered to the house had a new collar and leash for Brook, new leash for Canyon, new bed for Brook and a new dish for her too.  We were hoping that this Wii thing was something for us.

A few minutes later, we heard a truck outside.  Woo-woo, the Wii!  Oh, darn - just the trash truck.

Mom, looking for something to do, started to clean out the cupboards and figuring out if there was old food in there which wasn't any good anymore.  She found some chocolate chips and the little biped asked for cookies.  Mom told her that she could have cookies, but someone would have to help her make them.  Mom graciously volunteered Dad for that job.

Brook thought that the cookies smelled really good and wanted to try.  She didn't know we wouldn't get any because chocolate isn't for doggies.

Around 2pm, the big brown truck showed up!  The Wii got here!

Here's the little biped getting to play.

The Wii hasn't been off since it got here.  The little biped was so tired out by bed time from all the jumping around that she was doing that she went right to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Well, back to watching the bipeds play sports games.

Kisses,

King Skyboy

Early Dinner

Normally, we get our dinner after the little biped goes to bed.  Bedtime routine typically starts at 8.  She gets into her jammies, reads a book or two, brushes her teeth, goes potty, says prayers, gets kisses and hugs from Mom and Dad, and puppy slurps from us.  Finally, lights out and in bed.  This typically takes 20-25 minutes.  Dinner comes after this all over around 8:30.

Last night, her bedtime was before 7 because she made a very bad choice. I was laying on the floor with a stuffy trying to figure out how it was making so many interesting squeekie sounds when I chewed it.  The little biped came over to me, grabbed my head, and bit my ear!!  I cried.  I'm just little and it hurt a lot.

Dad immediately took her to bed.  No books were read and several stuffed Siberians she has in her bed were taken away.  She's never done this to me before, but apparently she's done it to King Sky a time or two.  Mom and Dad are working very hard to address this bad behavior with her and teach her that it's not OK to bite doggies' ears.  Fortunately, Sky and I were very well behaved and didn't bite back.  They think she may have learned it watching  Snow Dogs with Cuba Gooding, Jr.  Anyway, this resulted in dinner time early last night.

Tonight, dinner came before the little biped went to bed.  We got dinner at 7 again tonight.  I was told it was because I have to go get "fixed" tomorrow.  The doggy doctor says no food after 8 and no water after 12.  I didn't know I was broken.  The only thing Mom and Dad have said is wrong with me is getting up in the middle of the night to beg for water and trips outside.
Last night, between me begging, me banging on the door, Canyon's crying because I was keeping  him up, and the little biped having a coughing fit, Mom and Dad had been woke up every 10-15 minutes for over an hour.  Mom eventually left us and went to the couch, leaving Dad in the bedroom to take care of us.  We settled down shortly after Mom left.  LOL, sorry for the mean trick Mom, but after you left there was plenty of room in bed for Meadow, Canyon and I.

Well, wish me luck with whatever this "getting fixed" thing is.  I'm really not too sure if this is good or bad, but whatever it is - it's definitely a new experience.  New experiences are all part of being a puppy I guess...

Sleep Study

Hi Puppers!

I've been trying out new sleeping spots and positions lately. Here's what I've come up with so far...

I call this the over-the-top position...

Here's my upside-down head-down position...

The head hang over the couch position...

Here I am utilizing 2 pieces of furniture...

Enjoying some time in the little biped's room. Her bed is furry comfy!

I really like the couch...

This makes it even better....sharing it with the little biped...

This was pretty comfy...

Better...

Best of ALL!

I hope you all enjoyed my sleep study!
