The Humans' Busy Weekend

Mom's step-brother and his family came to visit from Austin, Texas on Friday night. They're staying with Dama and Paw-Paw until Wednesday. Uncle and his son were here to visit shortly after the little biped was born (about 2 1/2 years ago), but Aunt and the daughters haven't been here for 5 years.

Yesterday, the humans went to Dama and Paw-Paw's house in the morning so that the little biped could play with her cousins. They had lunch there and came home. We thought we were going to have some time to spend with the humans, but instead they put on outside-clothes (they don't listen when I try to tell them to grow fur coats). They got in the car and left again after taking us outside for a few minutes. They went to Hersheypark's Christmas Candy Lane. The little biped got to go on lots of rides with her cousins. She even got to ride on a little ladybug roller coaster. The unfortunate result of a Hersheypark visit is lots of treats get brought home, but they are not the doggy-friendly kind.

Today, they were here all morning and took down the upstairs Christmas tree. This afternoon, they went back to Dama and Paw-Paw's for a birthday pawty. Today is the 29th+? birthday of Mom's cousin's wife. Mom and Dad said all the adults got headaches because there were 8 children (6 of them under 10 years old) at Dama and Paw-Paw's.

Tomorrow will be a busy day too. Mom has the day off, but Dad's company isn't closed. He may stay home depending on the weather (there is a wintry mix coming down now). Plans include going to see the New Year's bologna (makes me drool just thinking about it), made by the company that paw-paw works for and used to own, in the morning since the little biped and her cousins won't be able to stay up late enough to see it dropped. Later in the evening, Mom and Dad will host their traditional, quiet, New Year's Eve game-night. My human friend, Megan, and her husband will be coming over after the little biped goes to bed. Megan is the nice one who comes and takes care of us sometimes when the bipeds abandon us for "nicer" places.
Oh, I almost forgot, the relatives from the Lonestar state will be coming to visit ME tomorrow. I will have to rub it in to Uncle that Penn State beat Texas A&M Saturday. But, mom tells me he is probably happy about it anyway since he is a professor at the University of Texas and Penn State was his second choice for graduate school.
In the meantime, the three of us will be working on our New Year's resolutions....

Gone Buggy!

Hey Everydoggy!

Our dear friend, ECHO, was very concerned for us in regards to the ladybugs the little biped recieved from Santa Paws. The little biped has this thing with Dama about ladybugs. Dama showed the little biped her first ladybug this summer while walking home from the babysitter's house. The little biped got to hold it in her hand and thought the ladybug was very cute.

This has perpetuated her love for the cute little insects. When the little biped got her big girl bed about 2 months ago, mom and dad found sheets that have insects like ladybugs, butterflies, and dragonflies on them.

She got an assortment of ladybug things from Santa Paws:
Here's a ladybug nightlight
Ladybug cars that wind up and roll across the floor

A ladybug chair and book

A mushbelly ladybug that chatters when squeezed

A ladybug bug towel (being modeled)

a ladybug game

and last but certainly not least, the quilt mom has been trying to finish forever. It just so happens she picked out fabric last year that had bugs and insects on it and the Christmas she is able to finish it the little biped is into ladybugs...

We hope this clears up any misconceptions about the ladybugs that have invaded our house. So far they seem to be harmless, but only time will tell. There have been some dinosaurs running around that might need to be "taken care of" in the near future....but that's a whole other story!

Santa Paws was Here!!!

Hey Everydoggy,

Sorry I didn't post yesterday to tell you about the Christmas presents we got. The humans had a busy day that started early and didn't end until late; so they didn't find time to take dictation from me about the presents.

Mom and dad had gone to bed pretty late on Christmas Eve. The little biped was very excited and didn't want to go to sleep. She finally fell asleep while reading and trying to wait up for Santa Paws.
The alarm went off early about 7am. They got the little biped out of bed and went downstairs to see what was there. Of course, there were LOTS of presents.

Look at the gingerbread house Santa Paws brought!

I know none of you doggies care what was in all of these packages for the humans, but here's a brief recap: Mom got her new camera (early present a few weeks ago), several CDs, several DVDs; Dad got a new tie, several CDs, several DVDs; the little one got a GeoTrax train set, ladybugs, dolls, a play house, puzzles, books, DVDs, stuffed animals, clothes, and many other presents.

But the most important presents were what we got. Drum roll, please. Several weeks ago, we got new beds which were part of our Christmas presents.

Sky was supposed to get a new one like my new throne, but UPS lost it and mom and dad had to find him one from somewhere else. It's one of those really nice eggcrate foam ones.

Sky and I got new collars (Canyon has a fairly new one so he didn't get a new one):

A Lupine Wolf Song collar for Sky....

A Lupine Ladybug collar for me.....the little biped picked it for me. She loves ladybugs!

We also got treats (Eagle Pack Holistic treats and Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato treats). After we got the all of the presents from Santa Paws, Grandma and Pop (Dad's parents) came over for breakfast. They gave us squeaky toys. Then all of the humans left and went to Dama and Paw-paw's (Mom's mom and step-dad) for lunch. Great-dama sent milkbones home for us. Last night, they went to Nana and Pap's (Mom's dad and step-mom) for dinner. Here's pictures of the squeaky toys from Grandma and Pop and a reindeer rope toy from Santa Paws. The squeakies are a frog, an elephant and a spider. When we squeak them, the tongue or the trunk or the feet flare out like a party toy.

What did all of you doggies get from Santa Paws? Hopefully it's not as tragic as Steve's Santa Paws present. I don't think Santa Paws hates us!

Merry Christmas and Woo-woo, Kelsey Ann

Merry Christmas!

We promised video of the house later in the season. Here's a video taken tonight. There have been some changes to the display since the last video. We lost two trees in the wind and ice this month. One of them was a green spiral tree, 8 feet tall; and the other was white mini-lights, 12 feet tall. Dad plans to fix those for next year. We've added the red light on the lamp post and Winnie the Pooh.

Thanks to all of the DWB's who sent cards to us; we've really enjoyed seeing all the pictures.

For those of you who've already been visited by Santa Paws, we hope that he brought something good. For those who haven't, get to bed so that he can come to your house.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!!

From the entire Kapp Pack

Playtime!

Hey Pups,

It's me, Canyon! I've been having lots of fun playing with my Secret Santa toys.....yes, I claimed all of them as mine. We are so excited for Santa Paws! Mom took this video of me playing with one of the toys (not from mom: notice how Canyon tries to use his front paws to "catch" the toy, it's almost like he thinks he has opposable thumbs, very cute :-P) The talking in the background is my little biped playing a game called "Wormy Apples".

Free Rice???

Hey Everydoggy!

Mom came home today and told me about something she learned about in school. Yeah, she liked school so much she went back to repeat it. I really don't understand what's wrong with her! School is not that much fun....they make you do things dogs (huskies especially) shouldn't have to do. But seriously, Mom does a good thing. She works with kids with behavior problems, ones with autism mainly, and helps them to make it through school. In an English class she learned about freerice. The website is really cool. It gives you words and you need to decide which other word means the same. If you are correct, free rice donates 20 grains of rice to someone who doesn't have enough to eat. You can try as many words as you like at a time. Go ahead and try it out! Let me know how many grains of rice you donated. It's always nice to do things for other doggies and people during the holidays and all year long!

Snail Mail Surprises!

We got more very important mail today and we had to wait all day to see what the UPS man left on the front porch!
Hmmm.....smells good.....what could it be....it says its from MayaMarie!!!!

OOOOOO, cheesy biscuits and a card...they're from MayaMarie and Missy!

Mmmmm.....they smell yummy!

Thank Woo, MayaMarie's Mom!!!!

Our other suprise was in the mailbox. Our Christms card from MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue was there. What a suprise when our blogging friend,Prince, from New Zealand was on the front of the card! How cool!!!! He is very handsome. Summer is very lucky to have such a handsome brother.

We are so excited for Christmas! It's so hard waiting, especially when you have a little biped who is SOOOOO excited for Santa Claus (Paws) to come.

Weather Pup-date: Our power has stayed on but it did not warm up enought yet for all of the ice to disappear. It is a bit treacherous going out to go potty....but mom helps me get down the steps so I don't slip and fall. As I get older my back legs aren't what they used to be (mom always says something under her breath about the d*** puppy mills, that's where they think I was before I came into rescue).

Good night and stay warm,

S'not Fun!

Hey Everydoggy!

We were supposed to get some snow, rain, and sleet mix today. I don't know what happened in the weather forecaster translation (Check Meeshka's blog for her take on that!), but all we got was lots of ICE! This is so not fun. Twice in 1 week. I want SNOW!!!!!! Please Santa bring us SNOW! Here's a slide show with some pictures from today.

We woke up this morning to the little biped being upset because her nightlight was out. We all had to get up at 6:45AM because she was up and wouldn't go back to sleep. Her nightlight was out because we lost our electricity. Mom, Dad and the little biped went to Dama and Paw-Paw's house again today because they wanted to get hot showers and stay warm. (Don't worry Dad came back a few times to check on us). The power was out for about a total of 12 hours. We have strong winds predicted for tonight so hopefully our power will stay on.

Send some good vibes for Dad. He has to leave on a business trip tomorrow morning to Mississippi and we want him to get there safely.

We had some pretty snotty creatures hanging around today...

This penguin really needs a tissue...

Yuck! Snotty Snowman

Ha roo roo roo, I couldn't resist those pictures. I thought they were very funny. They better make sure I get the used Penguin tissues!!!!

Secret Santa

The humans were gone all day. The mailman came and instead of his normal, just leaving mail at the mailbox, he walked up to the front porch where he left a big box. For several hours, we had to sit in the house and wonder what this package contained. It was really hard to wait for so long, but we did. The Christmas card count is: dogs - 64; people - 12; shared - 1 (from Echo and his people)

When the humans finally got home, we almost forgot about the box because of all the food they had. Apparently they spent the day at dama's and paw-paw's house baking Christmas cookies! Then they went pre-snow grocery stopping followed by a stop at the pizza shop for dinner. There are five LARGE containers of cookies: 1 container of chocolate chip, which will make us sick if we eat them; 1 container of peanut butter, which they won't let us eat; 2 containers of iced sugar cookies, which mom won't let anyone else eat; and 1 container of sand tarts, which dad won't let anyone else eat. They also had a lot of bags from the grocery store and leftover pizza. There was no dog food in the grocery store bags and we didn't get any leftover pizza. We were all wondering when we were going to get some of the good food... and we're still wondering...

Then they opened the box. They called all of us to see what it was. Here's pictures of what we found inside.

Here's Canyon checking out the first bag to come out of the box.

Here I am checking out the second bag, it had my name on it

And here, Sky looks at his bag

Sky got a Kong toy

Canyon got a frog that makes froggie noises when he squeeks it

I got a Kong toy too. Mine's a bone shape.

Well, we spent all day wondering what was in the box the mailman brought and we finally found out. Now we're wondering who it came from, so we asked Mom and Dad. They told us that we had been signed up for a Secret Santa exchange with MaPaw. Mom and Dad sent a present from all of us to someone this morning and because they sent one, someone else sent us presents. Thanks, Someone!!! The presents are great. Canyon thinks that they all belong to him, but we'll fix that soon enough.

Caught in the Act!

Hey Pups!

It's me Canyon. I really didn't appreciate Kelsey's blog yesterday. I try so hard to be good and she's trying to sabotage me!She needs to get over herself and just deal with the fact that I am as well behaved as her! We weren't quite sure if mom was going o go to work this morning since the weather forecast was for freezing rain, sleet and snow. But mom and the little biped left early this morning. Just when we were settling in for our mid-morning naps we heard something outside.

Hmmmm......it sounded like the garage door and mom's car. Look what mom found when she came home...

Here's a closer look...

Kelsey thought she would have enough time to plant the evidence to get me in trouble. Little did she know that mom was coming home early due to the weather.......HA HA HA HA! She was so BUSTED! I'm thinking maybe "Queen" Kelsey needs to go to the crate not me!

Mom wasn't too upset about the ornament. It was one of those that came attached to a present that was wrapped at a department store. Mom would have been really upset if Kelsey Ann had gotten this apple.

Mom bought this one at Macy's in New York City last weekend.

Speaking of the weather, I almost forgot, this is what our trees looked like today.

Not quite as dramatic as the Army of Four's storm (with a small "s"), but we do have 2 large branches from our HUGE oak tree laying in the backyard. Otherwise we don't appear to have any other damage. We are hoping the power doesn't go out tonight. Mom is hoping for a two-hour delay for school tomorrow so she can sleep in (yeah right, my little biped doesn't sleep in).

Last but not least, Check out our Moosesicle!

Fixed

Hey Everydoggy!

We got a phone call today that mom and dad's camera is fixed. I guess that means it can't have little camera babies or something....ha roo roo....yeah, I know that was really bad, but I couldn't resist. So hopefully mom and dad will take the boys to the biweekly MaPaw Dogtown playdate and they can pick-up the camera on the way home. I can, in turn, get some peace and quiet. I am not thrilled at all about the "annoying one's" free reign of the house. I've been trying to devise a plan to do something really bad and point the blame at him. That should convince mom to take him back to his crate during the day. Let me know if any of you pups have an ideas!

Not only a gift but a life too!

Hello Everydoggy! Our mom got this on one of her email lists and wanted to share with everyone as a holiday reminder......BIPED TISSUE ALERT!

A DOG IS FOR LIFE - NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!

Twas the nite before Xmas when all thru the house
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.

The children all nestled all snug in their beds
With No thought of the dog filling their head
And mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap
Knew the dog was cold, but didn't care about that.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Santa Clause with eyes full of tears

He unchained the dog once so lively and quick
Last years Xmas present now painfully sick
More rapid than eagles he called the dogs name
And the dog ran to him despite all his pain.

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Let's find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa had made one thing quite clear
The gift of a dog is not just for the season
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing we missed
A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don't give a Gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him explain as he rode out of site
YOU WEREN'T GIVEN A GIFT YOU WERE GIVEN A LIFE!

New Camera!!!!

Well, we didn't have to wait for long. Our old camera is not back yet,but mom convinced dad that we needed to have a second camera anyway. So mom picked up "her" new camera today. It's one of those compact digital cameras. Our other one is one that looks like a 35mm camera but it's a digital with a lot of zoomy power. Mom's new one has a lot of neat features but not a whole lot of zoomies. She says we have enough zoomies for everyone and she didn't need anymore.

This is what Sky thinks about the new camera!

We're in for busy weekend. Mom will be gone all day tomorrow because she is taking a bus trip to NYC with our dog sitter friend, Megan. Dad is going to take the little biped to see Santa Paws at Wal-Mart tomorrow. Then, on Sunday, Sky and I will get to go to a MaPaw event in Maryland. We will probably see lots of sled dogs doing what they do best. We can't wait. I'm not very excited about the long car ride, but I will get to practice meeting new people and doggies.

We have been getting so many Dog with Blogs Christmas cards. Mom and dad still have not received a single one! So far we have received via snail mail 31 cards!!!!!!! This is so much fun. We are meeting so many new doggies. I plan on visiting everydoggies blog to say thank you but haven't had the time to do it yet....but I won't forget!

Where's the camera, dad?

Tonight, we FINALLY got some snow again! Its only an inch or two, but it sure is fun. When dad and the Little Biped came home from work today, we doggies went out to play in the snow for about 45 minutes. We were out there playing and I kept looking at the door, expecting dad to come out with the camera so he could take a picture of huskies in the snow. Turns out that the focus machiney on the camera isn't working (and hasn't been for several months - sorry for any previously taken pictures that may be blurry).

Dad took it back to the location of purchase (the place with the repair team that wears white shirts and black ties) for repairs. Mom had found the warranty paperwork on the camera the other night (she admitted that she didn't remember that they had gotten it - dad hasn't admitted that, but he probably did too), so they figured that they probably should try to get it repaired now while the warranty was still good. They told him on Monday, when he dropped it off, that they expect to have it done within 12-30 days. Hopefully, it will be done by Christmas so that I will be able to post pictures of our Christmas presents.

So NOT Fair!

Hello Everydoggy!

I watched the weather late last night with mom and dad and the weatherman said we were going to get some SNOW! Mom, Dad and the little biped were supposed to be gone for the night and our friend Morgan (remember Hennesey? It's his mom) was going to be coming to let us out and feed us. Dad's friend , Doug, from Chicago (from his grad school days and the best man in their wedding), was in Washington D.C. for a conference. So they did a whirlwind tour of the mid-atlantic. Mom and Dad are members of the Philadelphia Zoo and had a Penguin workshop to take the little biped to in the morning.

The zoo has Humboldt Penguins, they are sometimes called Peruvian penguins. They look like this soft fuzzy one the little biped got in the gift shop.
They also visited the Big Cat Falls exhibit. I'm thinking it would not be a good idea to meet up with these cats at any time! The tigers cubs are part of a litter of three that was born in May 2007 at the zoo.

Then they drove to D.C. They had dinner with Doug and then walked about 2 miles in D.C. The little biped was fascinatated by the Washington Monument and wanted to climb it.....he he he...that's what they make elevators for! Their original plan was to stay down there last night but mom and dad decided since the weather forecast was predicting snow and even worse, freezing rain and sleet they wanted to come home to be safe. So then after walking they had to drive about another 3 hours home. They didn't get home to feed us until 11:30PM!

Well, this is what isn't fair...

Can you believe they call this snow???? You can hardly see it, much less get a snow nose.

Little did I know the worst was yet to come. Mom dragged me into the bathroom today and gave me a bath!!!!!! I hate baths! The only good thing was mom used her old hair dryer to help my fur dry a little before going out to go potty.

The bipeds were really working hard today.

Mom and Dad helped the little biped make a gingerbread nativity....

Mom and the little biped made Christmas tree ornament gifts.....
And most importantly Dad and mom worked on our Dogs with Blogs Christmas cards. Mom said Dad was extra helpful and addressed almost 100 envelopes!

We have been receiving cards from our blogging friends almost daily. Mom and Dad are kinda upset though...they haven't received a single card from any of their human friends. I guess who all know who is important in THIS house!
So far we have gotten cards from: Chloe, Ricky, Lucy and Sophie, Randi the Lab/Newf, Cairo the Boxer, Frankie V, Suki and Joey, Lenny, Sitka and Tia, and Pearly.

Woo woo, Kelsey Ann
