I'm a Big Boy Now!

Hey Pups!

I'm very pleased to announce Mom has finally decided I am old enough to stay out of my crate for the day when all the bipeds are gone. Yesterday was my first day out. Mom and the little biped were leaving in the morning and I thought mom had just forgotten to take me to my crate. I thought I had scored the jackpot! FREEDOM! Then she goes around and pets ALL three of us and says "goodbye, be good". Wow, she knowingly knew she was leaving me out of my crate. I was pretty good for the most part. The only thing I did wrong was to destuff the pink fire hydrant we won from Steve and Kat during the blogathon (sorry guys) and I picked a couple pairs of the little biped's socks out of the laundry basket and carried them to various points in the house. Grandma called me a sock thief. I was really super worried mom was going to yell at me, but she patted me on the head and told me I had been a good boy. From the stories she's told me about some of the foster dogs she's had I know it could have been A LOT worse!

Today was my second day out and NO problems today! I was a very good boy!

Oh, we got all kinds of packages in the mail today. There were 2 mom said were for us but we have to wait until Christmas to get them...hmmm....I wonder what they are. You can vote for what you think we are getting in our new poll.

Sky's new "medicine" came today. Mom gave it to him right away. She was very glad Sky chewed it rather than her having to give them to him the hard way. Picture this: mouth pried open, biped hand stuck down throat. Not pleasant! So, good boy, Sky!

Well, I better get going Kelsey Ann is going to chase me off the 'puter soon. He he he.....I think she's very annoyed with mom right now that I have been given free reign during the day!

Our Weekend by The Boys

Hey Pups!

I had an exciting weekend. I got to go on a car ride in the Sibe Vibe with mom, dad, and my little biped. You might not know this about me but I am not that keen on car rides. They kinda scare me. I guess I'm afraid my people might leave me somewhere with people I don't know. At one point during the care ride Dad had to pull me off of the little biped because I was so scared I was half sitting on her.

But, I guess it was worth it because I got to go to the pet store. My Canidae was on sale and mom and dad wanted to make sure they got some more for me before the sale ended. They also wanted to get a new food for Sky because of his itchy skin issues, but more on that later when he tells you about his weekend. Right now it's my turn. If you all remember I act like a scaredy cat when I meet new people, but mom was very impressed when I went up to a nice lady in the store...she even gave me some treats. Before we paid at the checkout my little biped picked out some nice gourmet treats for us. She gave them to us this afternoon. They were really yummy!

Ok, move over Canyon, my turn!

Sky here, I wish I would have had as fun a weekend as Canyon. I guess I should have figured out something was not normal when I had a different food in my bowl. I've been having itchy skin issues that don't seem to be getting better. Mom and Dad have tried just about everything to help me feel better, but I'm still itchy and scaly, but only on my face and my front elbows. Mom had researched my issue before and asked the V-E-T about zinc responsive dermatitis and he said it could be entirely possible that I have it. Apparently this can be fairly common in Northern Breed Dogs. The V-E-T had told mom and dad before they could try a zinc supplement but then after the V-E-T visit my itchies seemed to heal up some. Well, they now really think it's that zinc thingy and ordered my some supplement to help me get better. But look what they did to me in the mean time to help my skin heal

After they shaved my face and elbows, they got the new shampoo they purchased during the pet store visit and gave me a "sponge" bath with it. I guess I should be thankful they didn't give me a full-fledged bath in the horrid bathtub. Although, it is fun to body slam Dad against the wall trying to get out of the bathtub....ha roo roo!!! Mom and Dad think this might be the cause of my metal licking behavior.....we will see.

So, hopefully my torture is over and the supplements will help me to feel better!

Finishing Touches

Hey Everydoggy!

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and that your bipeds snagged some good deals this weekend Christmas shopping. My crazy mom was out of the house at 3:40AM Friday morning to go shopping. (Mom here: This is the first year I have ever ventured out for the early morning specials...not sure if it will happen again) Then 10 minutes after mom left the little biped woke Dad and all of us up. She wanted to know "where mommy go?" Dad told her mommy went shopping and the little biped's reply? "it dark, I go back to sleep". So smart and she's not even 3 yet! She knew we were supposed to be in bed sleeping, not shopping!

Anywoo, my real reason for posting was to tell you about my annual trimming of the Christmas tree. It's tradition for mom and dad to put the artificial tree up on Thanksgiving Eve.

This is the almost finished product.

This is me inspecting the tree

Here are some pics of my finishing touches.....every house needs some husky tinsel. I think I might be able to spare some if your humans would like me to mail some. Maybe I should seek out a patent for the husky tinsel....if I made money it could help Dad to pay the ginormous electric bill he'll have in a month or so.

Well, all, enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!

Kapp Pack "Griswold" House

Here's the big Christmas light unveiling. Dad worked hard for 2 days straight....even in the rain! Dad estimates betweeen the front and back of the house he has over 15,000 lights. Make sure to turn your volume down until about halfway through the video. It's really windy and the video is really loud, but be sure to turn it back up lfway through so you can hear the music. We will try to get a better video later on when it's not so windy. Enjoy! Hope everyone got lots of turkey. We didn't get turkey but I think mom will give us some of our special canned food tonight.

This following video is something we aspire to in years to come.....but know we are SOOOOOO not worthy financially and time-wise. We added it for your enjoyment!

Flipper: A Dog's Best Friend

Hey Pups!

It's me, Canyon. I can't wait to tell you about my new toy. I've been having SOOOO much fun playing with it. Awhile back mom was going through some stuffed animals that had been hers when she was a kid and came upon my new toy. It sat in the doggy toy box for a long while and mom finally showed me the other day how it works. It squeaks and squeaks and squeaks!! Really loud too! Kelsey Ann is SOOOOO annoyed with me (ok, that's seems to be a permanent mood in regards to me). She likes to make the humans think she's hard of hearing but it's all just an act. Here's a video of me with my new toy (sorry about the running water in the background, Dad needed to put water in his fish tank)

I wonder if real dolphins squeak like this one? Have any of you doggies every met a dolphin in real life? Did it squeak?

Humbled and Honored

Hello Everydoggy!

We were given two awards today. The first award we received was the Be The Blog Award. My boyfriend, Pippa, gave us this award. Thanks! We are very honored.

"This award is presented to a successful blogger, one who can “be the blog” - making it their own, staying with it, interacting with the readers, and just plain having fun."

Our second award of the day was given to us by the Army of Four. It is the Community Blogger Award.
"The Community Blog Award celebrates people who reach out and make the blogger community a better one. It also underlines the importance of a blog's readership community, one of the most rewarding parts about blogging. It's the people that come back to comment, adding to the conversation, making you feel like someone is listening and interested."

Canyon and I would like to demonstrate our sense of community with one another....Mom caught this RARE moment a few days ago!
We would like to bestow the honors of the Be the Blog Award to Cosmos and Juneau of the Mullin's Clan.
The Community Blogger Award we will give to our blogging friend in Colorado, Tucker. He is almost always the first one to leave comments on our blog and has offered us some very useful advice.

(Canyon will tell you all about his new toy tomorrow and Dad's christmas light extravaganza will be unveiled on Thanksgiving Day)

So Sad

Hey pups,

This morning when we got up I was so excited because it was supposed to be the day that I got to show off my new harness. Then, Mom and Dad decided that we wouldn't be going to the parade today with MaPaw. Both Mom and the Little Biped had a cold and the weather wasn't very good. It had just started to rain and it wasn't supposed to stop all day. Later we found out that the parade was going to be delayed a week anyway due to the bad weather, so at least we didn't miss it entirely. I just have to wait another week...

Wagon Testing

Hey Pups!

I got to try out my new, extra-special harness today when mom got home from work. She doesn't normally have to work on the weekends, but every once in a while she teaches other co-workers things like CPR/first aid and safe crisis management.

When mom got home, Dad, the little biped, and myself were outside waiting for her. I was sooooooo excited. (Canyon was very upset and was flipping out inside watching us, he has these separation from his people issues if he sees them and can't be with them, I'm sure he thoroughly annoyed Kelsey Ann....hehehehehe)
Anywoo, they got me hooked up for our first trial run.
After a little while mom and dad came up with a different idea to hook me up to the wagon. The handle of the wagon kept dragging on the ground when I stopped, so Dad tied a rope underneath the wagon which my lead hooks up to.

I had to make sure I was able to perform normal bodily functions on the go.....very important for a working dog.

After practicing in the yard for awhile, Mom and Dad decided it was time for us to take it to the street in preparation for the parade tomorrow. We walked for about a block and then walked back to the house. (sorry I don't have any pictures of this but the battery in the camera decided to take a rest, we promise it will be charged up tomorrow for the parade) When we got home mom opened the back of the Sibe Vibe and started unloading the various items she had gotten today for Clark Griswold's, aka. Dad's, fantastic best-in-town Christmas light display. He is predicting this year we will have between 15, 000 and 20,000 lights. As soon as there was enough room in the back of the Vibe I hopped in. Mom and Dad forgot to tell me we wouldn't have to leave for the parade until tomorrow morning. So, I'm off to rest up for my BIG "official" sled dog debut!

Happy Day!

Hey Pups!

I am so excited today. Mom stayed home from work to be with the little biped, who it seems has "caught" a bad cold. The only thing I can say about that is, I wish we had gotten more sleep last night. It's been flurrying snow and Dad comes home from Mississippi.
I woke up thinking this was going to be a great day and then this happened.

What was the little biped thinking??? She's supposed t0 be sick....Yes, those are the dreaded Minnie ears from Canyon's calendar shoot.
Kelsey was none too happy either.
The day eventually improved. This afternoon Mom got the mail. She's been telling me all week there will be a special surprise for me and today it finally arrived.
Do you see what I'm wearing? My own custom-fitted sled-pulling harness. The lady who made it was really nice and was amazingly fast. Mom ordered it on Monday, the lady had it sewed and shipped on Tuesday! What service! I SOOOOOOO feel like a real sled dog now. Wooooo woooooo! Mom says the harness is for me to pull the little biped's wagon in a parade MaPaw is in on Sunday. We are going to do some practice tomorrow with me pulling the wagon in the backyard. I will be sure to post pictures. I can't tell you how excited I am. One of the best parts is that Canyon is REALLY jealous. Kelsey Ann is loving that. She doesn't care about pulling the wagon or a sled. She tells me she's too old for that junk! But, not me!

Canyon told me to tell you all he has found a new toy. He'll have to wait a few days though, to tell you about it. Since this weekend's blogging is all mine with the wagon practice and the actual parade.

Kisses, a very ecstatic Sky boy
Pee ess: I caught mom perusing the Fosters and Smith catalog that arrived in the mail today

MaPaw Calendar is Available

It's me, Canyon. I managed to steal the computer from Mom and Kelsey so I could tell you about my proudest moment. The MaPaw Calendar is available. Click here to order for only $15.95 + $2.50 S&H (price gets lower for multiples). Don't forget, I'm featured in October because I was the big winner of the MaPaw Howl-o-ween Photo Contest. When you go to the website, you can view the cover, the reverse and each month. Here's some of our favorites. The calendar has pictures of MaPaw dogs and sometimes their fur-sibs who live with them. Kelsey was Miss February in the first MaPaw calendar, and Kelsey and Sky also got their picture in the 2007 edition. It's finally my turn!!!

Here's the cover featuring Rudy. Rudy was Ma's first Siberian and he's gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

May features these sibes at a very picturesque locale

July has a sibe about to go for a swim

And of course, here I am featured on Howl-o-ween

Don't forget that the big guy in the red suit likes to give calendars as stocking stuffers and he always needs help shopping, so you might as well order more than one - remember the price gets lower when you order more.

What's This I See?!?!?

It sure was a be-woo-tiful day. The humans went outside to do some yard work. Dad was trimming the trees and Mom was raking leaves. Meanwhile, the little biped was busy jumping in the leaves. Of course, we were stuck inside. So, I commanded Sky to stand at his espionage post by the window (one of his favorite things to do anyway) and take secret operative surveillance photos so we could check on them. Meanwhile, I did my favorite thing...

Here's is part of Sky's first report:

Nothing too suspicious there. Then, Mom and the Little Biped went next door to see the neighbors, and he got more data for his second report:

What's she doing with those other dogs, especially the cute, little puppy?!?!? I'm feeling so dejected and jealous. I hope that they don't decide to get another puppy, especially one that's not a sibe. The last time they did that, we ended up with the Annoying One, and we all know what a disaster that was.

Fur, Fur Everywhere

Hello Everydoggy,

I'm posting early and going to bed; it has been a long day. Mom was helping Dama with a special Mary Kay sale this morning and tonight she was going to a baby shower (by the way - click the link and you can buy Mary Kay products, get free shipping and have 20% of the purchase donated to MaPaw). Between the two events she came home for a few hours. Mom was wearing black pants. Of course that meant we had a mission. Get as much dog hair on her pants as possible. I'm happy to report that the mission was successful many times over. We had a great time.

Yummy in my Tummy!

Hello Everydoggy!

We had a GREAT night last night. Mom and the little biped were at a family get-together since they have relatives in from Minnesota. Mom told me they had lots of yummy food. I was getting really jealous and then she told me she brought some home to share with us. Apparently the steaks they were having were very big and she couldn't finish hers ,so she wrapped it up and brought it home for us. She even got some of the other relatives to throw their scraps in the pile. Do we have her well-trained or what???? It was sooooooo yummy!!!!!

Here are some pictures of us enjoying the feast!

Nahny-nahny Boo-boo

The Annoying One got in Trouble today, so, I spent the rest of the afternoon rubbing it in.

Everydoggy and all the bipeds were in the living room watching Spirit, a movie about a horse, this afternoon. The Little Biped went to her play room to get a toy. Apparently, its really hard for the small bipeds to sit still for too long. She got back there and yelled "Can-yay, hum!" (Translation - "Canyon, come!") Canyon got up to see what his girl wanted. A moment later, she came back crying and saying "Mommy, Daddy, Can-yay pee my doggy." Mom and Dad went back to the play room and found Canyon with his ears back, his tail between his legs, pee on Rock, and a puddle on the floor. If you don't remember Rock, here's a picture of him acting as the dummy for the pet first aid demonstration that Meeshka's human and my mom did at the Hike N Howl. Rock does really well at playing the dummy. I'm pretty sure that he must be a dummy because if I had been peed on, I wouldn't have taken it without retaliation.

Mom and Dad got really mad and yelled at him for a few minutes. Dad dragged him outside while Mom cleaned up his mess and gave Rock a bath. I have now spent the last five hours making fun of the Annoying One because he got in trouble. Now, I am getting tired, so I thought I should share with all of you so that you could help me with this.

Thanks!

Hey Pups!

It's me, Canyon. I want to personally thank all of you kind doggies who voted for me in the MaPaw Howl-o-Ween photo contest. I found out on Halloween that I won the contest. My picture will be featured on October 31st in the 2008 MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue Calendar. I am so excited. This will be my second calendar appearance, and I even get my own day. Stay tuned for details about when the calendar will be available. The following video is me after I heard the awesome news. Mom said I crushed the competition with 44% of the votes.......woof woof. (sorry, the end is sidways, but mom was trying to get the full effect of my tail)

Mom also said I had to tell you about some other things MaPaw has available. As many of you know, my mom is an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid instructor for people and us doggies. She made sure MaPaw has essential doggy first aid care items available for people to purchase. There is a Pet First Aid book and it does a very good job explaing how to treat most common (and some not-so-common) dog and cat injuries. It also explains how to do CPR on us pets. The second thing available is Pet First Aid Kits. The kit comes in a handy "fanny" pack, so it can easily be taken anywhere (then you don't have to use your human stuff on us pets....yuck....cross-contamination). Mom said these both would make really good out-of-the-ordinary gifts for pet lovers this Christmas. You can order either or both of them by clicking here.

Ok, enough with the public service announcement. I hate when she makes us do that. This is our blog not hers, but I guess it's ok, as long as it helps us doggies.

Tonight, I leave you with this very RARE photo.....mom was so excited to be able to capture this moment on film.

Are you ready to be amazed??????

Here it is!!!!!

Mom cartoonized us...what do all you pups think???

I leave you with one last Kodak moment.....Sky and I are very proud of our little biped....she brought home lots of treats....unfortunately not the doggy-friendly kind....but she gives us lots of doggy treats, so we'll forgive her this time.
