Hey Everydoggy!
I had to leave this subject alone on Sunday because of Single Sunday, so I saved it for today...
On Sunday afternoon, Dad took us downstairs (that's where the door is to our dog yard) to let us out. He opened the door and we ran out because we we were so excited to get out for some time in the sun. Sky and I ran up the stairs, but Canyon hesitated for a moment. He saw something...
You may remember that we've had a problem with little animals getting inside through the basement door in the past. This time, it wasn't it a shrew... It was a baby House Sparrow. We have lots of House Sparrows around because of all the bird houses Dad has outside the dining room window. Last week, Dad and the little biped met Ranger Eric at the National Zoo in Washington DC and learned that House Sparrows steal bird houses from other species. Despite this, Dad determined that he had to help the little baby and picked up the phone at the office desk to call Mom. "Bring a broom, honey." He chased the little bird through the family room and got it to the stairs. Then, he got a piece of paper for it to hop onto and helped it up each step until it got to the top and he could let it outside.
I know it's hard to see, but there's a little black spot in the center. That's the baby bird outside.
The other bird news happened early this weekend. You might recall my hankering for some duck breast. This was brought on by the mallard that was nesting in the bushes outside our front bushes. She's been running out from under the bushes and flying away everytime the bipeds went outside to the cars. Recently, they noticed she was no longer running away. They thought maybe she had her babies and had moved on with life until next year, so Mom decided to check under the bush and found that Mama Duck was still there. As it turns out, she only just laid her eggs, so she's spending all of her time keeping them warm. We're very excited for a few more new babies on our block and looking forward to Mama Duck having success with the eggs to see if there will be some chicks outside the window. Here's a picture of Mama Duck...
Let's hope that she's as successful as Mama House Sparrow.

Bird puppy infiltrating the house? Hmmm.
Dad gets a gold star for helping that little baby birdie. Hmmm....I like my canned Merrick food with duck in it. I'm thinkin the feathers on the duck under your bush may be too much of a bother so I'll pass on that.
