Cry Me a River!

Hey Pups!

Mom has been walking around for the last hour complaining about the hotel they stayed in near Disneyland. Apparently they had a $100 charge on their plastic thingy that mom didn't know what it was for since they stayed there on frequent traveler points. Mom was really annoyed because she found the charge online on Friday night and left a voice mail for their accounts receivable department and still hadn't heard anything by tonight. She called again tonight and was given the same song and dance but was able to talk to a manager.

So guess what the charge was for???

My humans stole a blue blanket! I can't believe it! I know they've done some awful things throughout the years but I never thought it would come down to stealing!
But seriously, the didn't really steal the blanket. They don't even remember a blue blanket being in their room. Mom is livid that they have been accused of stealing and not very happy that this is how this company's top status frequent customers are treated. They didn't even send a letter explaining the charge. Mom thinks it was housekeeping's vindictive way of getting back at them fo complaining about the dirty towels that were left in the room even though they left clean towels for them.
In the end the manager said they would remove the charge and mom thanked her for doing that, but mom also made dad call the company's customer service to complain about the whole incident.
Wanna know my solution to the problem?????
DON'T GO ON VACATION!
STAY HOME AND TAKE CARE OF US!!!

Meadow's Weekend

Hi Puppers,

I had a pretty exciting weekend. We had a house guest last night and I got to go for a walk in the woods. A Mapaw volunteer pulled a male "husky" from the York Humane Society. They drove him to a local high school where he was transferred to the Sibe Vibe. The bipeds brought him home. Turns out he's not a husky after all. He's an Alaskan Malamute!

Mom and Dad estimated his age to be about 1 yr (same as me). He came in stray to the Humane Society so his name isn't known. His foster home will give him a new name, so we had to resort to calling him various things... "Dog," "Mr. Fluffy Tail," "Mr. Mal."

Mr. Mal meets Canyon

Mr. Mal poses for a picture
Mr. Mal was very excited to meet me. He's a real ladies man. I have to admit, I had a crush too. How could you not when he's this handsome (sigh...) even if he did try to move too fast. I thought maybe Mom and Dad would let him stay. It would be really nice to have a boyfriend in the house. We even found time to get cozy together in my crate when no one was looking.

Unfortunately, he had to leave and go to his next half-way house before meeting his foster family later this week. Hope you find a fur-ever home soon, Mr. Mal. I'll miss you XOXOXO!

Mom and Dad had already planned for me to go on the Hike for Humanity to raise money for Uncle's treatment today, but since I was mopey that Mr. Mal left, it was good to get out of the house and do something. Dad was happy because he got to take more nature pictures with his new camera (Dad says it should be his since Mom has hers, but Mom says the new one is "ours").

We had a great time walking through the woods in the fall weather today and helping to raise money for Uncle's treatment.

I can't believe this!

Hey Pups!

I thought I should do this post because lately it seems like Meadow has taken over the blog. You see I like to fly under the radar and not get in trouble and then I'm known as "the good one".

I feel so bad that my humans did not allow me to hold to my promise of a blog post everyday until December 14th. I missed doing a post yesterday because my humans, especially mom, were worried about this.....

Mom came out of the little biped's room after tucking her into bed and the mouse ran down the hallway. At one point Dad had it cornered the closet, but mom wasn't quick enough with the box to catch it and it ran away and we haven't seen it since. Mom was all freaked out saying she can't sleep in bed because the mouse might climb on her. I was thinking she was being really stupid because did she really think one of the three of us wouldn't catch it before it climbed on mom? Maybe it would have been fun to watch mom freak out though!

I bet if the humans had seen this mouse they would have been really excited and happy and called all their friends to tell them who came for a surprise visit...

Humans are so stupid....Really what's the difference? A mouse is a mouse is a mouse!

I have exciting news on the homefront to tell you about! Ma from MaPaw contacted us yesterday. A young boy sibe needs our help! He was found as a stray and needs to come out of an overcrowded shelter. Ironically enough, he currently staying in the shelter that is less than 5 minutes from Khyra's house! Mom is meeting a MaPaw volunteer later this morning to pick this boy up. He may only be with us until tomorrow, he has a foster home to go to, but we are the halfway house for him! Should be fun! I'll post pictures later!

As always, don't furget to vote for MaPaw! Click the link on the left!

I'm Okay

Hi Puppers!

Mom and Dad decided I didn't have to go to the V-E-T after all. They've been checking on my leg and I've been really good about leaving it alone so they decided to wait and keep an eye on it. Thanks for all of your concern. Honestly I don't know what Canyon's problem was!

Today when the little biped had her cheese curls I had to go to my crate! What's up with that! I didn't start the fight!

Thanks to all who sponsored us for the Hike N' Howl and don't forget to vote for MaPaw. Click the link on the left!

The Hike 2008

Hey Pups,

Here's some pictures from the
Hike N Howl.

The Hike was at Core Creek County Park in Bucks County. There was a nice lake in the park and Dad took some scenery pictures with his new camera (his old one was replaced under the no lemon clause in the warranty this week), a Kodak Z1015 (10 MP, 15x zoom).

Ducks swimming in the lake.

A husky checking out the ducks.

Khyra and Biloxi say hi.

Kisses for the little biped from Biloxi (he's getting really big).

Khyra giving Biloxi a proper butt sniffing

This is a racing cart used by a team of Siberian Huskies from Merry-land that were there for demonstrations.

Brandi, Mapaw's oldest dog. She is a member of husky hospice at 18 years young!

Hike N Howl Eve

Hey Pups,

Tomorrow is the big day for MaPaw and the other sibe rescues. They have been preparing for the Hike N Howl all year long. The bipeds are very excited to be doing this event again in order to raise money for foster dogs (or as Biloxi used to say "poor lil gots no homes pups"). Speaking of Biloxi, he'll be at the Hike tomorrow too. Dad doesn't want to write too much tonight because it's late and Mom has said he must be in the car at 5:30 AM, so here's a picture from last year's Hike.

Look for pictures tomorrow night.

Kisses, Sky

Huskies Running Wild

Hey Pups,

Yesterday I told you about our great view. River asked me in I've ever gotten to run wild through the field behind our house. The answer is yes, but just once. Bipeds think huskies running wild really isn't a great idea. I, on the otherhand, think it's wonderful. I've lived with the Kapps for about 4 and 1/2 years. I was adopted from the Humane Society about a week before we moved into our house. I was living with them at the old apartment for two days when I went for a run through town. Dad spent all night looking for me. A few days later, we moved; on our first night in this house (Friday night, Saturday was the actual move day) I went exploring the field behind our house and visited some sheep about a mile up the road. Mom and Dad got a call at 6am on Saturday morning asking them to get me. I was covered in mud and spent the day lounging in their bed (still covered in mud and stinking like sheep poop) while they moved. A few months later, I spent an afternoon running in a state park that we stopped in for lunch on the way home from camping. After that, Dad and Mom went shopping and bought me a special collar. First, I hear a beep. If I listen when I hear the beep, it's OK. If I don't, it tickles my neck some. If I still don't, it becomes a bit more of a tickle. I learned to listen to come and didn't go running for a while... until this summer. Unfortunately, I went the wrong way and had a hard time finding the field. It was my shortest run ever.

It's not a good idea for huskies to go running because we don't know to come back on our own. Sometimes bad things happen. We might get lost from our homes furever and have to find new furever homes (it happened to me and Meadow - we were both "stray at large" at the Humane Society); or we might get hurt because dogs just don't know to look for cars before crossing the road. Dogs getting lost and needing new furever homes is part of the reason there are rescues out there like Mapaw. So don't forget, vote for us. Click the two links on the left.

Help MaPaw, this is free!

Hey Pups!

I'm sure you've been hearing things around the blogosphere about the Animal Rescue Site and their really cool shelter challenge. Here's all the info:

Vote for MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue at
The Animal Rescue Site and we could win $25,000 to help pets in need.
The Animal Rescue Site is hosting a special challenge for eligible Petfinder.com member shelter and rescue groups. The grand prize is a $25,000 grant, and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups with the most votes — a total of $100,000 in grants for animal welfare organizations.
Think how many animals we could help for $25,000!
Help us win! All you have to do is click to help rescued animals, and then vote in The Animal Rescue Site $100,000 Shelter+ Challenge. Both of these actions are absolutely free! You can vote once a day, every day, from September 29 through December 14, 2008. Every time you vote, or tell a friend to vote, you are making a huge difference for us.
Vote for us at www.theanimalrescuesite.com and we could win $25,000 to help pets in need.

The Animal Rescue Site

All you have to do is click every day and then vote for MaPaw. Mom has said she will even try to blog for us everyday until the event is over, even if it is only a picture to help everyone to remember to vote!

MaPaw could really use the help. We have Van going through Chemotherapy treatments, and Callie in Husky Hospice because of her seizures, Brandi, the 18 year old, in Husky Hospice and Sirus, who had many trips to the emergency ER because his seizure condition was not under control when he came into MaPaw from the shelter.

Care2 is also running a contest for a shelter to win $10,000. This is the America's Favorite Shelter contest.
Click here to vote or click the button!

Visit us every day from now until December 14th and we'll help you remember to vote. I promise you'll see new pictures and/or stories from us everyday!!!! Go MaPaw!!!!!

I'm already sad because the Cubbies lost last night, please do this and cheer us up!

Playdate and Some fixin's

Hi Puppers!

Although I am not an official MaPaw dog, I got to go along to the
MaPaw playdate yesterday. I had so much fun. My favorite was an all-white husky boy named Blue. Mom tells me Blue made an appearance on the Kapp Pack blog last year, right here. Blue needs some special vibes because he needs to have eye surgery to remove cataracts (See I knew cats were evil) They have cause his eyesight to be 5% in his one eye. Doesn't stop him from playing hard though!

I had so much fun, I can't wait to go back! Canyon did well with everyone and was less scared (according to Mom) and Biloxi enjoyed himself after he stopped hiding behind all the humans!

I also got to meet the famous Dr. Horst. Sky and Canyon have told me he's a great guy and I was a little shy at first but after I inspected him for a minute I gave him some Meadow approved snooter kisses! He said I'm in great shape and he thinks I'm about 1 year old. Mom and Dad are going to keep my birthday as August 1, 2007.

Mom here: Biloxi got neutered today. The poor little guy has three incisions. One of his testicles was stuck in "no man's land" and they had to try from the groin and the abdomen to push it out. He threw off their surgery schedule for the whole morning :-) Things are so messed up in his pelvic area from his crushed hip and that's what made it so difficult. He went out when we got home and has been peacefully (thank dog!) asleep on the pillow he's claimed as his. When we went in to pick him up, Meadow had her first appt. with Dr. Horst. He is estimating she's around 1 so she will keep her Aug. 1st b-day we gave her. She goes in for her spay in September.

TTFN, Meadow

Pee Ess: Please send some prayers and vibes for Mom's Uncle, he was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Pee Ess Woo: Word on the street is that I get to meet Miss Fluffy Tail this weekend!

A Gift From Above

Hey Pups,

The bipeds had some errands they had planned for this past Saturday: taking the blogathon prizes to the post office, visiting the library to return the Little Biped's borrowed books and find a few more (specifically looking for some to help the Little Biped learn about losing a dog and doggy heaven on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge), a trip to the hardware store, taking the Sibe Vibe for service, and dropping off food donations at the local Humane Society. They left the house around 10Am and were back around noon. Light bulbs and new books were unloaded from the car. Lunch was had and then... Leashes and choker collars were gotten out and Canyon and I were put in the back of Dad's car. RIDE!!!!!

We got to the Humane Society and Mom and the Little Biped went inside while Canyon and I waited outside with Dad. The food bags were already gone so I was a little nervous (remember, I had been there before joining the Kapp Pack) Before too long, Mom, the Little Biped, and a small husky girl came out. She was red and white with amber eyes and a full mask. We went for a walk at the grounds of the Humane Society, sniffed butts, and did some husky play. We all seemed to get along wonderfully!

Mom and the Little Biped took her back in and we went home. Mom and Dad started talking about names for her before we got out of the parking lot. Later that day, they settled on two choices... Sunshine or Meadow. After debate, they finally decided Meadow would be her name. The Little Biped piped up and said it should be Sunshine. So, a compromise was made (or as the Little Biped says "I have an ideal") and Sunshine Meadow was chosen.

We're very happy we have a new fursister, Sunshine Meadow, who came to live with us on Sunday.

Kisses, Sky...

Kapp Pack Dad here - we certainly didn't plan on getting another dog when we made this trip on Saturday. Whenever we go to the Humane Society, we always look to see if there are any huskies there. If there are, we let Mapaw know so a courtesy post can be done and if necessary, bring the pup into foster care. So, out of habit, we walked through the kennels. In the very last kennel (right across the hall from the kennel Sky was in when we adopted him), we found Meadow. She was listed as "stray at large, received 7/30/08." My wife saw her first and while I was looking at a senior, male, GSD mix (probably mixed with Malamute based on his size - note that his head is as high as a man's hip in the picture - and features) named JD.

We asked the kennel staff about her, and found out she had come in as a stray several weeks ago on the 18th. State law requires the shelter to keep strays for five days before making them available for adoption, so she had been available the 23rd. She was adopted out and came back in on the 30th as stray again. The owners were contacted and they said they would be in to pick her up, but Saturday had been her fourth day there (I don't care much for stupid dog owners like that). We took her for a walk outside to see how she was outside the kennel. My wife kneeled down to say hello to her and she came over and put her paws on my wife's shoulders. This was the same thing Kelsey had done the first time we met her.

Too many coincidences were popping up here and we figured this to be a message from North of the Bridge. We decided we needed to bring the boys to meet her. We quickly realized everyone was going to get along great and decided to be waiting at the door of the shelter when they opened on Sunday at noon. Adoption papers were signed, fees were paid and Meadow came home to live with us. So, we've got ourselves a 35-lb female husky with an unknown age (we're guessing older juvenile to young adult based on activity level and teeth examination). She likes to sit on the top of the couch and the arm of the chair; she seems to be very intelligent and knows some commands; and she loves to give hugs and kisses.

Thank you, Kelsey Ann, you knew just what we needed to help us heal. I'm sure you are smiling down on us from heaven!

Sorry there are no more pictures.....blogger is being stupid!

Blogathon Thanks

Hey Everydoggy,

Thanks for supporting Mapaw, the Kapp Pack dogs and our bipeds during the Day of Blogs this past weekend. Your donations have raised $845 for Mapaw making the weekend a huge success.

Thank you Fur the Animals, Mapaw, Army of Four, Donna, and Khyra for prize donations.

We spent all day Sunday sleeping; Mom and Dad slept some in between turns watching the little biped.

Between Saturday and Sunday, we had 1,311 hits from 585 visitors and 431 of those visitors were first-time readers of the Kapp Pack blog!!!

On Thursday night before the blogathon, we told you about Callie, a very special Mapaw dog. The latest news is she's in the hospital due to cluster seizures. She must remain until she is 12-18 hours seizure free. Please send sibe vibes (good thoughts that is, not Mom's car).

Trivia #6

Hey Everydoggy,

The next prize is the second of the two Hike N' Howl T-shirts from the 2007 event.

Hike N' Howl will be held for the second time within the next year. It's a fund raiser between Mapaw and two other Siberian Husky/northern breed rescues in southeast PA. Hikers take their dogs with them and collect pledges for this walk. There are food stands, vendors, demonstrations of dog-related things, games, raffle, and silent auction. Your question (first right answer wins) is:

When will the next Hike N' Howl be held?

Woo woo, Kelsey Ann

The answers to the Disney dog trivia, in order, are Nana from Peter Pan, Copper from the Fox and the Hound (Tod is the fox), Bruno from Cinderella, Pluto, and Tramp from Lady and the Tramp. Good job everyone who gave answers!

It was a tie with four correct answers between Steve and Kat and Team Husky.....but when we drew names........Summer and Prince of Team Husky are the winners!!!

Disney Dogs...

Ok, we decided our criteria may be a little to high for 6AM so we are changing it to whoever gets the most correct wins the prize. In the event of a tie we will pick the names out of a bag to see who wins. Here are the pictures...

The prize is this lovely set of dog-themed note cards with envelopes. They come in their own decorative tin.

Remember, you are giving the name of the DOG not the movie...

Good luck!

Woo woo, Kelsey Ann

Playtime, yeah right....

We are going to create an optical illusion right now. What you see in this video is Biloxi and I playing....

This is what is really happening....did I fool you???
Puppy slurps, Canyon
Congratulations to Summit the Super Mal (with help from Princess Eva) who won the second of our two giggl blue fire hydrants! Good teamwork!

Win Biloxi - Final Criteria

Hey Everydoggy,

Mom's off doing laundry again. The final criteria for winning Biloxi are:

- He's a puppy and he likes to sleep a lot, so you must have a soft bed for him (we're thinking about bed a bunch at this point)
- Our back yard has some bugs this time of year (lightening bugs, cicadas, flies, etc). Biloxi has learned to like eating bugs, so you must have bugs in your yard or house for him.

OK, I know - we're getting tired and this is kinda ridiculous, but it's the best I could come up with.

Oh - here comes Mom. Remember don't say anything about this to the humans...

Woo woo, Kelsey Ann

Surprise Giveaway!

Hey Pups!

I didn't tell woo but we planned on giving away another prize to the 3rd to comment on our last post. Well, the winner is Princess Eva and Brice! They have won the 2nd of our two Hallmark husky ornaments.

Getting back to past contests....the winner of the rawhide chews is River the Beagle! He correctly guessed that Skye was the foster dog who was a family hero.

Congratulations Pups!

Kisses, Sky boy
