Prize Time

Hey Everydoggy,

Mom and Biloxi just went outside for a few minutes to take some pictures for a post later today. While I have the chance, I figured I would tell you more about the biggest prize of the day. Remember we're giving away Biloxi. I was saying earlier that we'll be giving him away in the wee hours of the morning. The criteria for winning him away include: a donation to the rescue we're supporting must have been made, a taste for Southern cooking... wait Mom's coming back; enough on this subject for now. Remember, keep reading later in the day to see how and when you can win Biloxi.
We are going to give away another prize with this post. The dog or person with the correct answer to this question will win these adorable magnets with baby cats and dogs on them.

Visit the website of the rescue we're supporting to get clues to help answer this question. The first one to get the correct answer wins.

Which foster dog was named for a candy bar?

Good luck.

Woo-woo, Kelsey Ann (and don't forget, the BIG prize is just between us dogs and cats)

Welcome to Day of Blogs!

Hey Everydoggy!Well, here we go into The Kapp Pack's first venture on a blogathon. We are so excited we've raised $720 to help the huskies, husky mixes, and the "there's a husky in there somewhere" doggies in MaPaw's care. Animal rescues need help now more than ever. Check out this link to see part of the reason why. This was featured as the top news story on our local NBC station last night.

We have many prizes to give away and even a couple of prizes we haven't told you about. Stay tuned for more details on those prizes!

Remember we are supporting MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue. The other day we talked about Van and his chemotherapy. Today we'd like you to meet Callie and Sage. If you remember Canyon took a liking to Callie last year at the Green Lane Scottish-Irish Festival.
Callie is a two-year-old who is special in many ways. She is epileptic and suffers from cluster (multiple) seizures. The other dogs tend to pick on her. She has poor motor skills and falls a lot, but she is happily unaware of her limitations.

Sage is four years old and would be voted Miss Congeniality. All doggies love Sage and she is the first to start a game of chase or tag. She is smart and athletic and always on her toes. These two very different dogs have developed an intricate bond and are inseperable. A silly, sweet, handicapped girl and a savvy popular girl sharing an incredible closeness.

Callie has had seizures since she was eight weeks old that are severe in nature. MaPaw welcomed her into the Husky Hospice program and soon knew she would be a permanent resident due to her mental and physical limitations. Other than her epilepsy, she is a healthy girl, and most importantly, a happy one.

Sage is always near Callie, looking out for her, playing with her and getting the others to join in. If Callie is called and she doesn't understand herds her to her foster mom and dad. If Callie is being picked on, Sage comes to her rescue. "God help the mister who messes with my sister"

If the two girls are placed apart, they will cry until reunited. Most often, when one sleeps the other is nearby, usually touching. They share toys, bones, beds, and human laps.

Both girls are special in their own way. Callie trusts and depends on Sage. Sage protects and mothers Callie. Both have endeared themselves to their foster mom and dad, who have officially adopted Sage so "the girls" can remain together. Callie will continue to be loved and care for in MaPaw's Husky Hospice program with Sage by her side.

Go ahead and click the button on the left and email us to pledge to help Callie and many other doggies in MaPaw's care!

More Blogathon Prizes

Hey Pups!

Mom and Dad have been a little lazy lately, but I've clawed them into showing you more of the blogathon (Day of Blogs) prizes.

Here are two Hallmark Christmas ornaments featuring a husky...

This is a bewootifl stuffed husky donated by a very nice lady who is sponsoring us for the blogathon!
There is still time to sponsor us for the blogathon and you could win one of these fabulous prizes. I will tell you about one of the huskies you will be helping by sponsoring us.

Meet Van...

Van is a seven-year-old Siberian who joined MaPaw when his owner turned him in because they didn't have time for him. He is settling in with his foster family and this sweet boy tries to make friends with everyone he meets. He walks nicely on a leash and is good with kids.

Van is a loving, calm boy that is happy to be by your side and content to hang out. His foster mom fondly refers to him as a "Siberian throw rug". This guy would be a wonderful companion for a less-active home looking for a new friend.

UPDATE: We are sad to report that cancerous cells were found in two tumors recently removed from Van during a routine neuter. We are very hopeful for a good prognosis and an oncology consult has told us Van needs to undergo chemotherapy. Van had his first round of chemo last Monday and has another round scheduled for tomorrow. Please think good thoughts and send sibe vibes for our big guy!

Visit MaPaw's website to learn more about Van and the other huskies in MaPaw care...

Click on the button on the left and help Van and many other huskies!!!!

Toothz

Hey Y'all,

I'll tell you what - toothz seems to be da theme 'round here lately.

MyMama founds some pupper toothz on the floor over da weekend, so tonight she reckoned she check to see if me big doggy toothz were comin' in yet. Here be some pic-shers of me new big doggy toothz.

Donts I gots me a purty smile.

Dat be da good news, now da nots so good news...

Kelsey Ann gots herself toothz problems too and I reckon she gonna be losin a tooth or two. She be goin to the vee-ee-tee on Thursday to see 'bout gettin some ant-ay-buy-ah-ticks and be gettin on the doctah's sked-yule to get the bad tooth pulled out. That be the same day I be goin' to the bone doctah to see 'bout gettin' my broken bones all fixed.

The other toothz issue is Kelsey Ann seems to be gettin long in the tooth. She's told y'all 'bout her hearin problems and her joint pain. One of da things dat seemed to go 'long widda joint pain was lots of pacin 'round and pantin. MyMama and MyDaddy and da doctah been thinkin dat it was pain management. But, in da last coup-lah weeks she gots herself anuder problem. She been doin her buzness on da floor from time to time. MyMama and MyDaddy been tryin to figger out what in tarnation be wrong wid dat ol bat. So they dids some research on the internet and found dat Kelsey Ann gots herself a whole mess of da simpsons of doggy dementia. MyMama and MyDaddy gonna talk to da doctah on Thursday night and see what he thinks. Doggy dementia been gettin press las couplah weeks cause da Phil-ee-del-fia Een-kwi-er-er done a story 'bout it. Click here to see da video. Da simpsons dat Doctah Foster and Doctah Smith give are (widda ones dat Kelsey Ann gots in red):

Gettin los in places da doggy should be knowin, likes da home or backyard
Gettin trapped behinds furniture or in cornahrs of da room
Trouble findin an usin doors and climbin up stairs
Not knowin her name or commands dat she always did know
Not wantin to be 'round peoples, play, go for walks, or go outside
Not knowin' family members faces, toys, etc.
Tremblin an shakin, while standin or lyin down
Wanderin aimlessly 'round da house
Hard time learnin new tasks, commands, or routes
Does her buzness in da house, regardless of often she goin outside
Sleeps in da day, and not at night
Be starin at walls or off into da yonder and is startled by lighting, the tee-vee, etc.
Seekin less and less of your attenshun, praise, and play
Not wantin to take treats, drink fresh water, or eat fresh food

So, we all be hopin dat it ain't be doggy dementia dat KelseyAnn gots. Be sayin yo prayers for her.

Well, dat be 'bout it. Oh yeah... Gotta show y'all anuder blog-a-thon pic-sher. 'Member, da blog-a-thon be all 'bout helpin poor-li'l-gots no home doggies like me. I picked dis one cause it be of a bar-b-que apron. Ya gotta use your toothz to eat and bar-b-que be good eatin... Pulled pork, wet ribs, dry ribs, pigs in a pit, corn on da cob, frog legs in sauce, squirrel - dat all be good eats.

Y'all have a bless-sed day.

Playdate with Khyra!

Hey Pups!

Kelsey allowed me to do the post today even though it's supposed to be Single Sunday. Kelsey's not feeling so well and wanted to take a little time off (she'll tell you more about her problems tomorrow).

Miss Fluffy Tail, Khyra, came for a visit today. She says she came to see all of us, but I really think she came to smell some puppy breath! We all had a great time. Canyon was really snarky when Khyra first got here and tried to pick a fight with her, but after about 5 minutes of Mom telling him he knew her and had fun with her before he was OK. I took advantage of that moment and tried to get Khyra involved in a game of catch while Mom was holding Canyon.

We played, then rested, played, then rested, over and over....

Khyra's mom got to try some of the cake mom had baked for this weekend. We still haven't gotten our pieces so that was completely NOT FAIR! Khyra tried to butter our mom up to get some but it didn't work! Towards the end of their visit Biloxi got banished to his crate because little pups get cranky when they are tired....

Enjoy the pics and videos from our visit.

Blogathon Details...

Hey Everydoggy!

Blogathon will be here before we know it! Blogathon is going be a little different this year. There will still be 48 posts in 24 hours, but you will not be making pledges to the Blogathon website. The official blogathon is taking a year off and this year we have an alternative event title Day of Blogs ’08. Instead we ask that you email your pledge to us at kapppack@gmail.com. Do not send any money to us, we could use the money to fuel the Sibe Vibe but it’s more important for MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue to get the money. All money should be paid directly to
MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue. You can go use the Paypal button at the top of our left sidebar to pay your pledge. You can pay before the Day of Blogs or wait until afterward to see if we made it through. You can pledge a flat amount or a certain $ per hour amount. If you prefer to keep your donation private, you do not have to email us. We just ask for the email if you would like to participate in the games and prize drawings.

We hope to get to know new and old friends during the Day of Blogs!

Here's one of the many prizes to be given away...

New Mapaw Shirts

Tonight at 9:30 PM, Mapaw announced a new design for the apparrel products they sell. It's really cool and it was designed by a Mapaw volunteer! Here's a picture of a one of the shirts with the new design.

The design is available on lots of different types of shirts, in many different colors You can get it on polos, sweatshirts, maternity shirts for biped mommy's-to-be, and bibs and onesies for biped puppies. Click here to see all of the possibilities. Or go to the Mapaw store, to see all of the products that they sell. Remember, this is to help other huskies and husky mixes find furever homes like we have gotten. Mom and Dad volunteer with Mapaw and if it wasn't for them and Mapaw, I wouldn't have my great home (but I also wouldn't have to deal with the Annoying One - he was a Mapaw transport failure for Mom and Dad). Thanks for reading my plug.
Woo woo, I'm Kelsey Ann, and I approved this message.

THANK WOO!!!

We got an email from Ma today about a gift for the doggies at MaPaw looking for fur-ever homes. A box was waiting with some bones, a leash and a collar. The gift came from Fur the Animals, LLC from Dallas, TX. They are an online purveyor of unique pet products. The really neat thing is rescues can register with them and buyers can choose their favorite rescue so 10% of all web transactions are given back to your favorite rescue. Fur the Animals donated blog-a-thon prizes to Steve and Kat last year. Steve and Kat told me the owners of Fur the Animals have even fostered huskies.

The package also contained a handwritten note from the company's founder:

"We've been following you [MaPaw] through the Kapp Pack's blog. Enclosed is a rescue donation. We figure you can always use leads, collars and rawhide. Good luck!"

One of main reasons that we blog is to help publicize MaPaw. It really nice to see all of our hard work in the blogosphere can make a difference with rescue. Thanks so much to everyone at Fur the Animals!

Mom's Creation

Ok, here it is...drumroll....the moment you have been waiting for...the big unveiling of the quilt mom is donating to be won by raffle or silent auction at the Hike N' Howl this coming Saturday. I am so excited to see all my doggy friends I can hardly contain myself. Mom is not quite finished with the quilt (the edges are not done yet) but she allowed me to take a picture to share with everydoggy. I think the puppies on the quilt are very cute and it is even doggy-sized.

These are the close-ups of the quilt!
I apologize right now to everydoggy who's blog I haven't visited this week. I promise with my paw to my heart I haven't forgotten you, the Kapp Pack is just very busy getting ready to help out with the event on Saturday. Oh, and by the way, it's not too late to sponsor MEEEEE! Just click on the link on my sidebar that says sponsor me!

Hikers Conference

I was so excited to go for a long car ride yesterday. I had no idea where mom, dad, and the little biped were taking me. I was a bit unsure of what was going to happen for a little while because mom and dad were VERY frustrated about being lost. We eventually found our way there with my superior verizon navigator skills.

We had arrived at Norristown Farm Park- the site of the Hike N' Howl!!!! I was ecstatic to see a lot of my husky friends there. There were lots of blogging doggies too! Sasha, Shiloh, Misty II, Magnum, Blue, Dante, Isis, and Lexa were there. Remember you can still sponsor me for the hike by clicking on the button on my sidebar!

Here are Sasha and Isis...
This is Shiloh looking very handsome...

Magnum was resting up before the training session...

Blue and Sasha were praticing their husky play skills...

I was taking a break with dad before the practice session...and sneaking some doughnuts too!

After our bloggers meeting we decided our humans needed to take us on a training hike. We want to be really good at it for the hike. I got a little tired halfway through and duped dad into carrying me for a little while. Mom thought we was nuts for carrying all 53 lbs. of fluffy me. After our training session dad found a nice cool stream for me to plop myself in. It took a lot a prodding to get me out of the stream when it was time to head home. I was very tired the rest of the day and spent the remainder of the day sleeping on my throne.

This was my view on the trail.......not very exciting, huh?
