Christmas Cookies

Hey Pups,

I have to complain.  Yesterday, we got left home alone for the majority of the day.  The bipeds went to church in the morning.  They came home and had some lunch, then left again until well after dark.  When they returned they brought with them about 8 dozen cookies.  There are chocolate chip, peanut butter, sand tarts, iced sugar cookies and the kind with Hershey Kisses on them.  But none of them are dog cookies.  Mom, Gama, and the Little Biped spent several hours baking cookies while Dad and Pawpaw got snow equipment ready for winter and watched football.  But during all this time baking cookies, they couldn't find time to make some for us.  I see how we rate...  Man's best friend - yeah, right!

Since none were made for us, I guess we'll have to hope Santa Paws brings us some cookies.  The Little Biped should be going to visit him soon to give him her list.  We'll have to see if we can sneak cookies onto the list.  She can't read yet, so she won't notice.  Probably should add some new bones and squeeky toys too.

Surprise Treat!

Hey Pups!

Mom went to a discount grocery store yesterday and brought us home a pawsome treat! She thought these would help me with my zinc responsive dermatitis and unfortunately she told me I had to share with the rest of the pack. I'm the King now and I should dictate who shares my snacks!

Ooooo....anchovies.....

Don't they look really yummy?

Canyon's looking at mom wondering if the treat will be good or not....he's such a worrywart!

Here's Meadow checking things out...

Yum......

Wow, this is good stuff....

Biloxi is looking for more....

I hope you enjoyed seeing our yummy treats!

Dog Olympics

Hey Pups,

A few nights ago, I was training for Dog Olympics. My event is Speed Obedience! This event requires mastering four commands and completing them in as little time as possible. Sit, shake, other paw, lie down. My time was 9.78 seconds! Can you beat it?

Yummy!

Hey Pups!

We just got an extra special after-human-dinner treat. I used the George Foreman grill to make the humans burgers so mom peeled some of the zucchini and cut it up and put in on the grill with the burger drippings still on it!

Check this out!

Here they are cooked and ready to eat...I think it's yummy...Biloxi liked his too...

Last half-hour, we had two trivia questions. Peanut won the leash and Sitka won the collar bling! Congratulations to both of you.

Trivia #4

Hey Everydoggy,

We did a drawing to give away the Mapaw Cookbook. Sorry the video is sideways. Us dogs will have to help Mom get her butt in gear and remind her to hold the camera the right way next time...

Congratulations to Eva and Brice! For those who didn't win the cookbook, don't forget you can buy one from Mapaw. Click here to get it for only $18.00 plus $4.95 S&H.

Since it's dinner time, we're also giving away the apron.

We wanted this to be a trivia contest, so Dad found some cooking trivia on an encyclopedic website (not wikipedia) that relates to raw vegetables. We thought this was a great question since the humans are having gazpacho for dinner. So here's the question:

What raw vegetable has the least nutritional value?

A) Tomato
B) Cucumber
C) Spinach
D) Iceberg Lettuce

First right answer from someone who made a donation wins the apron. Good luck!

Single Sunday - A Birthday Celebration

Today is a very special day. Since I was a stray in Lancaster County, PA before Maw and Pa rescued me and found my fur-ever home, no one is sure what my birthday really is. Mom and Dad decided that we would celebrate on June 1. Today for my 9th birthday, we are celebrating in the following manner...

1) Out of bed early (7am)
2) Pack a lunch
3) Bipeds leave and go to the
Philadelphia zoo to see tigers (Changbai, Koosaka and Terney) who are celebrating their first birthday, taking a hand-drawn card the little biped made
4) Fishing trip for the bipeds if there is time after the zoo visit.

Wait a minute!!! I'm not in these plans. This is how I used to celebrate my birthday.

A new toy!

Cake icing!

Yum!!

I guess, I just get to spend time alone on my throne today. Maybe they'll bring me something from the zoo. Those tigers are a kind of cat, aren't they? I bet it would be fun to play with one of them. I've played with cats before, but we'll talk about that on another Sunday.

Husky Rendevous

Hey Pups!

It took a lot of clawing for me to get Mom to get this posted. But, she finally decided she would sit down and do it for me. Saturday night, Khyra came to visit. I thought I would get to be her new boyfriend, but she took to Canyon more. We had a great time playing. Khrya was very excited to get to play outside in our fenced dogyard because she doesn't have a fence at home. She only gets to go out on leashes or tie-outs.

Khrya's Mom brought lots of presents. Mom got adult grape juice; Dad got a six-pack of a beer called Siberian Nights, woo-woo!; the little biped got presents for her birthday including candy, several stuffed animals, some princess stickers, and dinosaur bath toys; we got some toys and treats; and there were even several prizes for us to give out during the Blogathon. She also brought a purse that the AO4's Mom made for the Mapaw Ebay auction that she won. Inside the purse was a bag of fur from the AO4 to sniff. Thanks, Khyra and Khyra's Mom.

All the bipeds ate dinner together. Mom made spaghetti and brownies and Khyra's Mom brought bread and a ladybug cookie for the little biped. We didn't get any spaghetti, but we did get treats.

Here's pictures of our visit.

U-TEE-EYE and Taste Test

Hey Everydoggy,

I think I was jinxed by my visit to the V-E-T last week. On Wednesday I started having accidents in the house and it took dad until Saturday to call mom in Florida to find out what to do.....duh.....FIX ME! Well, mom talked to Dr. Horst on Sunday and he said to bring a pee sample in on Monday morning. Um, that ought to be interesting.....

Flash forward to Monday morning, Dad takes us outside and as I'm just starting to pee he sticks this bowl under my butt.....I gave him a "What the he** are you doing?" look. When mom came home last night she let me out of my crate. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you all, they've been crating me because they don't want me peeing all over their precious floor. They've taken all my beds away too! Mom then told me Dr. Horst said I have a U-TEE-EYE and could take some pills for it.

Last night I made it through sleeping without having any accidents. Medicine must be working already! I even slept in and didn't bother mom to let me out until she was done with her shower and ready to go to work. I'm usually bugging her as soon as the alarm clock goes off!

The really bad part of all of this is what happened Sunday afternoon after dad brought mom and the little biped home from the airport. I peed in the crate and dad said I stank so this was the scene in the front yard.....HOW HUMILIATING!

Now onto happier news....MayaMarie's mom has been talking about starting a doggy biscuit bakery business and we got to be some of the official taste testers. There were three kinds for us to try: Pumpkin Oat, Banana blueberry, and Three Cheese. All of them were very yummy....and we took turns while the little biped fed us....
Wait your turn, Sky! Please, Please let me have some more!

Hugs and yummy biscuits!!! Who could want more?????

Hoppy Bunny Day!

Hey Everydoggy!

Sorry this is a day late but my humans were so busy with the little biped this weekend that there was no time for them to take the dictation of my blog. According to the pictures I saw the little biped spent her time chasing after bright colored eggs filled with stuff. Apparently she thought it was lots of fun! And here's the answer to everypups question.......yes, we got SNOW on Saturday!

This is what mom and the little biped did on Saturday afternoon.....
Looks yummy, huh? Well, I am sad to announce we didn't get to try any of it.

Then, the little biped came home from Grandma's house with lots more candy and chocolate and once again we didn't get to have any!

We didn't even get to catch the Easter bunny......I'm thinking Easter is a holiday that's not much fun for doggies!
Oh, and by the way, thank you all for the well wishes on my arthritis. Dr. Horst and my humans seem to have come up with a combination of medicines that keeps me comfortable. I will have to go see Dr. Horst for a blood work-up in a month or so to make sure the Rimadyl is not doing any damage to my liver. It really sucks getting old!

Starting to feel better

Just came in from our last potty break before bed. Dad snapped this picture when we got in. Can you see the snow on my back?

Now of course, it's pretty obvious that there is definitely one thing going on and that's new snow. Wonder how deep it will get... But there's something else this snow on my back shows.

You need to know a few things about our house to understand this: 1) the picture was taken on the main level of the house; 2) we live in a ranch with a partially finished walkout basement; 3) the stairs out of the basement to the yard are on the west end of the house and the stairs from the basement to the main level are on the east end. So, I had to come go all the way from one end of the house to the other (about 60 feet) and up a flight of stairs. I moved faster tonight that I have in ages making this journey. I think the Rimadyl is helping.

We'll give it some time to see how well it does. Dr. Horst wants my dose cut in half after a week, and then maybe cut in half again so that I can be on the lowest dose possible. As long as it continues to work, I'm happy to keep taking it. One other added benefit... Canyon is more jealous now at meal time than ever before. Sky gets his zinc supplement, I get my joint supplement, I get PPA pills dipped in peanut butter, and now I get liver-flavored pain pills. Poor Canyon gets no treat-flavored medicine and he thinks he's missing out. ROTFL...

Woo-woo,
Kelsey Ann

THANK WOO!!!

We got an email from Ma today about a gift for the doggies at MaPaw looking for fur-ever homes. A box was waiting with some bones, a leash and a collar. The gift came from Fur the Animals, LLC from Dallas, TX. They are an online purveyor of unique pet products. The really neat thing is rescues can register with them and buyers can choose their favorite rescue so 10% of all web transactions are given back to your favorite rescue. Fur the Animals donated blog-a-thon prizes to Steve and Kat last year. Steve and Kat told me the owners of Fur the Animals have even fostered huskies.

The package also contained a handwritten note from the company's founder:

"We've been following you [MaPaw] through the Kapp Pack's blog. Enclosed is a rescue donation. We figure you can always use leads, collars and rawhide. Good luck!"

One of main reasons that we blog is to help publicize MaPaw. It really nice to see all of our hard work in the blogosphere can make a difference with rescue. Thanks so much to everyone at Fur the Animals!

Yummy in my Tummy 2!

Mom gave Sky and I a special treat tonight. First she melted butter and marshmallows. Then she added Snap, Crackle, Pop cereal.

Here we are waiting patiently for some of the treat.

I got to try some of it. It sure was good.

Then Sky got to try some. He liked it so much that he tried to take the spoon with him.

Mom and Dad have been snacking on the treat tonight, but they haven't shared anymore. Any ideas of what we can say to try and get some more of it?

Canidae Avalanche

Hey Everydoggy!

I have such a great story to tell. Every dogs dream come true. This happened last night, but since I was nice and let Sky post for his "birthday" I had to wait until tonight to tell you all about it.

Check this out....

Mom had brought in our new bag of Canidae....or in Khyra-speak, Khanidae, and lifted it up to open the "easy-pour"spout and out from the bottom of the bag flowed 40lbs. of our food. Woo hoo.....Canyon and I had to work hard to supervise and make sure we got to sample some before it all got cleaned up. Notice Canyon's bowl on the left, that's where the food should have been poured.Well, Mom and Dad got it all cleaned up....too fast if you ask me and we then got our bowls filled and had dinner!

Woooohoooooo, Kelsey Ann

(Here's to more unexpected surprises)

Pee ess: What do you think of our new layout??? Mom worked very hard to get the html stuff just right and we wanted to try to highlight the MaPaw and "good deed" stuff a little bit better.

Santa Paws was Here!!!

Hey Everydoggy,

Sorry I didn't post yesterday to tell you about the Christmas presents we got. The humans had a busy day that started early and didn't end until late; so they didn't find time to take dictation from me about the presents.

Mom and dad had gone to bed pretty late on Christmas Eve. The little biped was very excited and didn't want to go to sleep. She finally fell asleep while reading and trying to wait up for Santa Paws.
The alarm went off early about 7am. They got the little biped out of bed and went downstairs to see what was there. Of course, there were LOTS of presents.

Look at the gingerbread house Santa Paws brought!

I know none of you doggies care what was in all of these packages for the humans, but here's a brief recap: Mom got her new camera (early present a few weeks ago), several CDs, several DVDs; Dad got a new tie, several CDs, several DVDs; the little one got a GeoTrax train set, ladybugs, dolls, a play house, puzzles, books, DVDs, stuffed animals, clothes, and many other presents.

But the most important presents were what we got. Drum roll, please. Several weeks ago, we got new beds which were part of our Christmas presents.

Sky was supposed to get a new one like my new throne, but UPS lost it and mom and dad had to find him one from somewhere else. It's one of those really nice eggcrate foam ones.

Sky and I got new collars (Canyon has a fairly new one so he didn't get a new one):

A Lupine Wolf Song collar for Sky....

A Lupine Ladybug collar for me.....the little biped picked it for me. She loves ladybugs!

We also got treats (Eagle Pack Holistic treats and Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato treats). After we got the all of the presents from Santa Paws, Grandma and Pop (Dad's parents) came over for breakfast. They gave us squeaky toys. Then all of the humans left and went to Dama and Paw-paw's (Mom's mom and step-dad) for lunch. Great-dama sent milkbones home for us. Last night, they went to Nana and Pap's (Mom's dad and step-mom) for dinner. Here's pictures of the squeaky toys from Grandma and Pop and a reindeer rope toy from Santa Paws. The squeakies are a frog, an elephant and a spider. When we squeak them, the tongue or the trunk or the feet flare out like a party toy.

What did all of you doggies get from Santa Paws? Hopefully it's not as tragic as Steve's Santa Paws present. I don't think Santa Paws hates us!

Merry Christmas and Woo-woo, Kelsey Ann
