Sir Licks-A-Lot Strikes Again!

Hey Everydoggy!

I didn't get a chance to share this story until mom and dad came home. This event happened the night before they left on vacation.

Mom had the bright idea that since Sky's zinc supplement seemed to be working so well and he wasn't licking metal anymore and scratching his face to a bloody, scaly pulp that she could cut back on his dosage.....

I told her this wasn't a good idea and she should stick with the recommended dosage.......and look what happened....
This was mom and dad's nice, expensive, Crosgill bed skirt. Here's a better picture of Sky's HULA manuever....

He was so fixated on licking the metal bed frame that nothing was going to stand in his way....yeah, who's the best doggy in the world now????? Mom reported even the box frame was soaking wet where it was next to the metal.....

Sky got off without any punishment because mom knew it was her fault and he has a medical condition for an excuse....

Home At Last!

My humans came home! They got home last night around 11:30. The little biped was fast asleep in the car. Dad carried her in and they put her pajamas on without her even waking up. We haven't seen that happen since before her first birthday (she'll be 3 in May), so we could really tell they must have had a very long week in DisneyWorld. We were all very excited they were home, but knowing the little biped was in need of her sleep we tried to be reserved in our excitement.

This morning, she woke up at 6:45 and came into our bedroom (we let Mom and Dad sleep there too) to wake everyone up and watch TV with us. Sky and Canyon finally got to run, jump, howl, bark and show how excited they were that the humans came home. Me, I was excited, but I remained regally composed and didn't let too much of my excitement show.

After playing all morning, Canyon and the little biped settled down on Dad's easy chair for a nap.
Later, they told us all about their trip. Here's a quick recap.

Last Saturday, they rode in an airplane from Baltimore to Cincinnati, then they rode in another from Cincinnati to Orlando. They got to Orlando and went to the resort.

On Sunday, they went to Disney's Animal Kingdom and saw a bunch of animals. There was a 3D movie about bugs based on Bug's Life the little biped thought was a little scary. And they had breakfast with Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Mickey Mouse. Later in the day, they met Minnie Mouse, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger.

On Monday, they had breakfast with Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy. Pluto is Mickey's dog and they apparently saw a lot of him while they were gone. Later, they went shopping at Downtown Disney. Nothing was bought for us.

Tuesday, they travelled the world at Epcot and the day included meeting all of the same characters again as well as lunch with Chip and Dale (they're chipmunks and they sound tasty), Pluto and Mickey Mouse. The little biped fell asleep in her stroller and missed meeting Snow White and Dopey, but later they had dinner with several princesses: Aurora, Cinderella (the little biped's favorite princess), Ariel, Belle and Jasmine. After dinner, a long walk through several countries included meeting Aladdin and finally getting to have her picture taken with Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger in England at the same store that she first met them when she was in Mommy's belly. There is a picture of this meeting on her bedroom wall and she often says "I in Mommy's belly when I meet Pooh Bear."

Wednesday was spent at the pool, but ended with dinner and dancing with Cinderella, Prince Charming, the step-mother and step-sisters at the Grand Floridian. We're told that dinner was excellent and included prime rib and salmon (of course there was no doggy bag for us).

On Thursday and Friday, they visited Magic Kingdom and met Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Peter Pan, Wendy, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Stitch, Darby, and many Disney characters that they had already met earlier in the week. They went on lots of rides, ate really good food, and got nothing for us. Mom even got to see her favorite Disney character, Captain Jack Sparrow, at a pirate tutorial. (this guy was good, you would have thought it was Johnny Depp himself!)Unfortunately, he doesn't do pictures or autographs which terribly disappointed Mom.

Saturday, they were supposed to be home by 7pm, but didn't get home until really late. There was a flight cancellation and then they took a bump in exchange for first class the whole way home and credit towards future travel. They've spent most of the day planning their next vacation to use these flight credits and we've been hearing a lot about what there is to do in DisneyLand. I hope that maybe they will bring double souvenirs for us from that trip since there were none from this one.

We have a winner!!!!

Hey Everydoggy,
I was looking forward to playing a game of "Clue" with all my bloggers friends, but Sky's girlfriend, Lola, was just too darn smart. Lola is the first one to guess that my humans went to visit Mickey Mouse at Disney World. They told me they got her a pawsome present!
Woo woo, Kelsey Ann
Thanks to everyone who guessed in my game. Pippa was close, but I was looking for an exact location in the state!

Disappearance!

Hey Everydoggy,

Things have been really quiet around here. Something terrible has happened. My humans have disappeared and I can't find them anywhere. They've left me at the mercy of Sky and Canyon. No, really, they have hired two very nice people to come and keep an eye on us and take care of us.

Now, onto the mystery, where could my humans have gone???

They packed clothing called shorts and capri pants.....any guesses???
I will keep giving clues until we get a correct answer. Any doggies that are involved with mom's new yahoo group (you know who you are) and MaPaw are ineligible to guess, since you already know. The first doggy to correctly guess will receive a special surprise package from The Kapp Pack. Happy Guessing!

Change of Heart

Well, I guess I've had a change of heart about the little biped. I got to do my most favoritest thing with her tonight. Can you guess what it is?????

Here's a hint.....

That's right, SNOW! FINALLY!

Which means I got to be a sled dog!

The little biped and I had so much fun!

Here's a power sled pull shot! Lola, check out my muscles!

Canyon was going ballistic in the house while I went out to pull the sled. He did get to come out later on and successfully pulled Mom down 3 times.

I leave you tonight with my little biped's snowman

Kisses, Sky boy

Little Biped Torture

No, I'm not torturing her - she's been torturing me and Sky for a few days now. Kelsey is supposed to be the queen and protect her loyal subjects, but instead she's been sleeping most of the time and laughing at us during the brief moments when she is awake.
Here's pictures of the torture in action:

This blanket is supposed to be for the baby in the lower right-paw corner.
Attemping a Vulcan mind-meld

Sending dinosaurs in attack mode - they're really loud and scary

My reindeer tug-a-war toy in little biped prison

Won't someone please help me instead of taking pictures

I'm so sad - PLEASE HELP ME GET MY TOY

Yay, I got it back. Thanks, Mom!

Now, it's time for some payback.

Puppy slurps, Canyon(I am not annoying)

BTW- Kelsey Ann asked me to thank everyone for the kind words and well wishes for her Kelsey Ann-iversary.

I can't believe it!

Hey Everydoggy,

This weekend is very special to me. 7 years ago this weekend, I came to live with my mom and dad. Mom had always wanted a husky but couldn't get one until she moved out on her own. As soon as mom and dad knew they were getting a place to live they started browsing the internet to look for huskies. The first website they came to was MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue. Mom was a husky novice and thought the color of the husky was important (in my opinion it still is....hehehehe) and she always wanted a red and white husky. Well, what they saw was my picture and story.
The next thing they did was to fill out the adoption application. MaPaw was very thorough and careful and checked their references well since mom had never owned a dog before. Once their applicationwas approved it was time for them to come and visit MaPaw. I was in rescue when MaPaw was still so small that they didn't even have foster homes yet and all the foster doggies were at Ma and Pa's house.

Mom and Dad scheduled a visit to see they doggies, and as soon as they came into the house and sat on the floor to greet us doggies, I walked up behind mom and put my paws on her back. SHE WAS MINE! Mom and Dad started visiting me almost every weekend since they would not move into their place until the beginning of January. I had to wait about 6 weeks until Ma and Pa could take me to my furever home.

Adoption Day 2001

Through the years I have experienced many changes in our family. Mom and Dad originally rented a townhouse and about 4 years ago bought their own house, at which time Sky came to live with us. A little over a year after that our little biped arrived. Our family has been through many happy and sad times over the years. I am so glad Ihave the chance to experience all these things in a home where I am taken care of!

When I arrived at MaPaw, they had gotten me from a human society. I was found wandering along the side of the road in Pennsylvania Dutch country. They were pretty sure I was "dumped" from a puppy mill or ran away from one. I was estimated to be just under a year old and it appeared I may have had a litter of puppies. My fate was very uncertain in the shelter because they found out I was heartworm positive and had it not been for MaPaw, I strongly believe I would not be here today telling my story. MaPaw not only nursed me back to health but taught me how to socialize with other dogs and most importantly people.

After I got to my furever home, mom and dad had to work a lot with me on my submissive peeing issues. I would get very anxious and worried if I did something wrong or if there were loud noises or voices. But mom and dad didn't give up on me and now I don't have any of those issues. Although, I think Canyon would say I'm anti-social.

In the past 7 years our family has remained involved with MaPaw. Along they way we have gone to countless meet and greets to brag about our breed and to find furever homes for foster dogs, we've fostered 3 huskies, transported many huskies, being involved in the planning of the inaugural year of the Hike N' Howl, and last but not least, we try to help MaPaw by being part of the blogosphere.

Sky came next...

Then the little biped...

Then finally, the annoying one (aka. Canyon)

Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I couldn't have asked for a better furever home.

Lazy Saturday

Hey Everydoggy,

I don't much feel like blogging today, so I thought I would leave you with this picture of me napping in one of "my" new beds.
Oh, and I should send off a thank woo to Jan's funny farm for the "You Make My Day Award" and to ECHO for the "Thinking Blogger Award".We are supposed to pass on the award, but quite honestly, I don't feel like it.....my bed is too comfortable to concentrate on dictating my blog.

Also, I mentioned about Haggis, the Scottish Deerhound, being missing . He is still missing, but his website has been updated as recently as last Monday with possible sightings. Our new friends at Jan's Funny Farm had this poster made up for DWB sidebars. Please take it and us it!

(Mom does not claim to take credit for the huskyphant pic, she recently received it in an email and the copyright stamp is on it from the creator. It was just too perfect for the zoo post)

Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Hey Everydoggy,

I told you I found some bizarre pictures on Mom's new camera.

It appears my people were transported to the Land of Oz this weekend.

No, Seriously, it was a really cool event at the Philadelphia Zoo. Every year they have an Open House event for members of the zoo, which my people are. They got to see lots of things behind-the-scenes. They saw the commisary (where they prepare the food for all the animals), the animal hospital, a tortoise that uses a skateboard to get around, the naked mole rat room, and the behind the scened of Big Cat Falls. I personally don't think I would want to meet up with any of those cats in a dark alley.

This is our little biped learning how to do a lion examination...

These are 3 of the 4 real lions at the zoo...

This is the zoo's male tiger, Dmitri. He is the father of the three Amur tigers cubs born in May of 2007.

This picture kind of scares me. Mom tells me this Puma was really eyeing up our little biped. I'm certainly glad that fence was in between them. Not sure I would like this behind-the-scenes big cat thing!

Last, but not least, a "cuddly" polar bear photo op!

Hope you enjoyed seeing the interesting pictures I found. I know they are not of bewootiful me, but sometimes too much of a good thing is too much!

An award for us???

Hey Everydoggy!

I was so excited when I read our pee-mail tonight. Our good MaPaw friend, ECHO, gave us the "You Make my Day Award". We are so honored. We try really hard to be enteraining but yet, educational at times. We love sharing our daily events with everyone, and hopefully no one minds when we brag about our little biped's adventures or Mom's quilts. Thank Woo so much, ECHO!

Here are the rules: Pass the award to up to 10 people or doggies whose blog brings you happiness or inspiration and makes you feel happy about blogland. We hope these are new choices for the award:

We would like also give this award to Opy because without her and her dad's help we would not have been able to get suited up for Operation Bring Beau Home! Check out our trooper pics! Thanks Opy and Greg!

Yummy in my Tummy 2!

Mom gave Sky and I a special treat tonight. First she melted butter and marshmallows. Then she added Snap, Crackle, Pop cereal.

Here we are waiting patiently for some of the treat.

I got to try some of it. It sure was good.

Then Sky got to try some. He liked it so much that he tried to take the spoon with him.

Mom and Dad have been snacking on the treat tonight, but they haven't shared anymore. Any ideas of what we can say to try and get some more of it?

Help Find Haggis!

Hey Everydoggy!

We were just alerted to this very urgent issue. The lady that made Sky's sleddog harness forwarded the information to us...

Haggis was last sighted off of Racetrack Road, on the BW&A Trail in Bowie, MD. (12/14/07)

If you think you might have seen Haggis

please call the owners day or night: 202-492-4055

Haggis (click on his name for a link to the website set up) is a one-year old Scottish Deerhound intact male.
He has been seen with his collar and tags.
He is likely to be very scared and may not come when called. The best strategy is to call us immediately.
Please do NOT attempt to approach Haggis. Sitting or lying down might get him to come to you.

On November 21st, 2007, Yeonwoo, Jon, and their two dogs, Attila and Haggis, were on their way to Jon's parents' for Thanksgiving. Their car was rear-ended by a speeding car on Route 50-Eastbound, just before Exit 11-Collington Rd/Bowie in Maryland.
Their car rolled twice until it crashed into the guard rail. Both dogs escaped from the car. Although uninjured, Yeonwoo and Jon were immediately taken to a trauma center and were not allowed to search for their dogs.
Attila was hit and killed by a car soon after the accident. Haggis is still missing. He has been seen many times since the accident in Bowie and Lanham, MD.
Let's help bring Haggis home!

Canidae Avalanche

Hey Everydoggy!

I have such a great story to tell. Every dogs dream come true. This happened last night, but since I was nice and let Sky post for his "birthday" I had to wait until tonight to tell you all about it.

Check this out....

Mom had brought in our new bag of Canidae....or in Khyra-speak, Khanidae, and lifted it up to open the "easy-pour"spout and out from the bottom of the bag flowed 40lbs. of our food. Woo hoo.....Canyon and I had to work hard to supervise and make sure we got to sample some before it all got cleaned up. Notice Canyon's bowl on the left, that's where the food should have been poured.Well, Mom and Dad got it all cleaned up....too fast if you ask me and we then got our bowls filled and had dinner!

Woooohoooooo, Kelsey Ann

(Here's to more unexpected surprises)

Pee ess: What do you think of our new layout??? Mom worked very hard to get the html stuff just right and we wanted to try to highlight the MaPaw and "good deed" stuff a little bit better.

Sky's Re-Kapp and Pack Resolutions

It's me, Sky... Kelsey let me post today as her birthday present to me.

Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday dear me,
Happy birthday to me.
Mom and Dad decided that today is my birthday. Since they adopted me when I a little over a year old and I was too young to remember the date when I was born, an honorary birthday had to be chosen. Today's my fifth "birthday!"
Lots of things to talk about today. I'm going to do a 2007 Year in Review of the Kapp Pack (a Re-Kapp) and tell you our New Year's Resolutions.
So, here's my top 10 favorite posts of 2007 (in chronological order):
1) Our first post - June 12. This post made the list because it's the first post of our blog.
2) My introduction on the blog. June 18 and June 20. One of my favorites because the story is all about me.
3) The mid-summer pawty, another two-parter. July 7 and July 8. This story is one of my favorites because Kelsey made all these super plans for a big pawty when Mom and Dad were out of the house for a night and the plans got ruined. She thinks she's the greatest thing since sliced bread sometimes and this event really went a long way towards humbling her for all of five minutes.
4) Rocky pup. July 19. He's on the list because he's so darned cute. He also kinda looks like me - black and white, blue eyes. Yeah, I was cranky when he was here but I missed him when he was gone.
5) Visitors. August 1. We had several visitors this year. This one is my favorite visitor post because there's lots of good information here to help prevent lost doggies. I was once a lost doggy, and I am really glad that I've found my furever home.
6) Hike N Howl. September 1. Hike N Howl had it's inaugural year. It was hugely successful in raising money for MaPaw, Harnessed to Hope, and DelVal. These three rescues work with huskies in PA, NJ, DE, and MD. They're all non-profits and can always use extra help. Mom and Dad work with MaPaw, the rescue they adopted Kelsey and Canyon from.
7) My zinc problems. Sir-Licks-Alot, September 25; and Our Weekend..., November 25. This made this list because what Mom and Dad have thought was an allergy issue has turned out to be a zinc deficiency. I take supplements now and it really seems to be healing well.
8) The interview. October 5. This one is also all about me, so it is very important.
9) A Happy Day. November 16. The day I got my sled pulling harness. I got to pull the little biped's wagon around the yard with it. I never got to use it in the parade because of bad weather causing a delay and then Mom and Dad having plans on the rain-date. I hope that it snows sometime soon so that I can use it to pull the sled in the yard.
10) Caught. December 13. This is another story of humiliation for Kelsey.
Now, since 2007 is over. We need to make resolutions for 2008.
Kelsey:
I resolve to be nicer to Mom and Dad when taking my medicine. I know it really does help me.
Canyon:
I resolve to stand up for myself more
I further resolve to be less scared around new people and new doggies.
Sky:
I resolve to howl more and bark less.
Happy New Year!!!
Kisses, Sky
